Front suspension cycling

Yes tires clear. I have 1.5” left before tire is into fender. It’s 5.5” uptravel. Problem is down travel is only 3 3/4”. The kit said they were supposed to be 10inch travel shocks. I’m only getting 9.

Then you’d need to get a different shock or change the suspension lift height. How much suspension lift do you have?

P.s. I have 5.25” rear and 5” front. I also have too much uptravel. I’m lowering my suspension lift next after I finish the HiLines.

4.5” lift but actually getting 5”.

From normal ride height, the shock travel should be split roughly 50/50.

Id rather have more down to keep the wheels planted but I get what you’re saying. Would longer shocks be the answer?

Up travel creates stability by giving the suspension a place to go before upsetting the frame. Up travel also gives the shocks more time and distance for the valving to do it's work resulting in a nicer ride quality. Building for up travel is a significant part of why I have learned to do things like reshape the track bar. Building to make up travel is more work than making down travel.

Regardless of how you want to do it, the shocks determine the suspension travel. Size them based on their travel bias from normal ride height. The rest of your job is to clear the way for that travel.

Would this work for putting extra bend in the track bar?

Long stretch maybe. I bought one from a neighbor to put a jog in some exhaust pipe. It didn't work. It's really only good for bending ridgid conduit.

For that price you can just get a press.

I figure just checking.

@PG. what did you find out?

as I recently mentioned in another thread...I have been running the RC trackbar because I had heard whispers of fitment issues with the Currie bar.

I found the stock cover is better but not clearing the rock jock track bar. I’m going to put extra bend to hopefully clear which I haven’t gotten around to. I need to buy a press. After cycling 100 times i found I have lots of regrets. It’s going to take some time to get this right but cycling was the best thing I have done.

Please share these regrets so no one else does the same 🙃

The biggest mistake was letting someone else do the job. He clearly didn’t cycle the suspension and either charge extra to fix the problem or at least let me know. I’m pretty sure some parts are mismatched. The kit said 10 inch travel shocks which I do not have. It’s bias towards up travel a lot except at anything over 5.5 up the lower long arm is into the frame. The track bar was never the right length. On it shortest setting it was to big. I went back and forth with rock Krawler about this. I would have done much better piecing it together to build for a purpose instead of a kit that’s cost 💲and doesn’t work well on my jeep. I would have stayed short arm or go savvy mid arm. It drives better than it used to by far but it’s not a street or daily driver. I drive to the trails and that’s the only street it sees. Sometimes trailer it.
