So. Bought my son a 98 4-banger, 5spd. and we’ve put a decent amount of work into it. Got his for him early this year and I’ve been driving it for the last 7ish months, along with teaching how to drive a manual. .

And then……….he got his license.

I seriously miss driving the TJ. I have a Rubi Gladiator and somewhat seriously asked him to trade, he said no. So now, I have three options.

1. By him a used Legacy and tell him to get over it

2. Sell the gladiator and get myself a 4.0 manual. This would be insane as we have a family of four.

3. Deal with it and let the boy have his fun.

Solid idea. We live in a culdesac so no where to park 4 vehicles……i guess we could put the wife’s SUV in storage .

I've seen plenty of cul-de-sacs turned into parking lots. In fact I had a friend of a friend put a two post lift up in one in front of his house. And it's a TJ...you can park them anywhere.

I transported 5 people with the 4 passengers carrying luggage for an international trip in my TJ once. Nobody died. I was amused. They never asked for a ride again. Everything worked out.

2 kids, gear, luggage. Dont see that working on a road trip. But where there is a will, there is a way.

Done a half dozen round trip vacations from Louisiana to Colorado with 4 people in the TJR, using a hitch rack for luggage. Definitely “where there’s a will, there’s a way”

Hahahaha! I'd still say that to her even if I drove a geo metro.

The TJ is way more engaging to drive, smaller (obviously) so easier to throw around. A lot of the driver engagement piece is the manual. But sadly, I'll probably just keep the gladiator and wait for the kiddo to go to college. The plan was/is to give the TJ to his brother.

Odds of any vehicle surviving two teenagers is slim to none though. And I have noticed the market has softened on the TJ. So may take Mac's advice at some point in the near future. Which I'm sure my neighbors will love.
