What did you do to your other vehicle today?

I remember the name from when I was part of the V8Buick Forum. Seems he was well regarded in his expertise.

For one of the high school reunions, he located and bought back his '65 Skylark, and restored it. Took it to the reunion. Looked a lot like this...

When Dave first bought it, he knew virtually nothing about cars. He actually thought he was buying a Chevelle! I rebuilt the front suspension on that car in his parent's driveway. He ended up putting a nice 455 in it. Drove it to the high school drags at S.I.R., swapped out the rear tires, kicked-ass, and then drove it all the way back to Oak Harbor.

Hahaha And again, I just missed it! No, Dave Johnson, though I knew some Knutsens in school, as well. Oak Harbor High School, class of '81.

Funny thing, I join forums for whatever is my ride Dejour. Joined a Honda Accord forum recently and ran into a guy from the old V8 Buick days who'd helped me build the GS online.. he and many others. Much like I did with my LJR. Once you pick through the nonsense and decide who to listen to, it can work out nicely.

I've become a Unicorn collector of sorts:

'70 Buick Stage when Chevelles and Camaros are incredibly common.
'05 Chevy Duramax/Allison REGULAR CAB (to be for sale soon @ 125k mi.)
'13 Honda Accord EX-L V6/6MT
'06 TJUR 6spd manual.

I'm an automotive slut. I'll own anything, and practically have. Current known count is right around 325 vehicles. Some nice, some not. ;)

If I ponder it a bit I'm sure a specific of Mr. Johnson will hit me. Tried to login to V8 Buick but too long gone I guess.

Holy crap! I'm a rookie. My buddy says, "I wouldn't want your insurance bill".

Add to my crowd a built '99 XJ , also black. Very nearly bought a black Honda6-6 but the red one was a much better deal and a third the distance (250mi).
I don't seek out black it just comes at me.

My first car was also a Buick GS. It sounds like the 3800 v6 FWD wasn't as exciting as it's predecessors
I actually looked at the 'newer' GS when I decided to go with the Honda. I hear they ran quite well.
Ya, the Stage 1 was not built big-time. Iron heads, 11:1 yadablah. Still ran low 12s at 4600#, 150 with the Tremec OD (briefly).
Put my share of Chevy & Fords on the trailer. "What, you're running a Quadrajunk?!" Until I got the Holly Snyper EFI. Tune the QJ and forget it, not 'tuning' after every pass.

O boy, don't wanna start missing it. Sold in Utah so I'd never see it again, like an ex-girlfriend, never wanna see her again.

I just looked into the V8 Buick forum, and it sounds like the very same Dave Johnson, based on his knowledge/career with cam grinds, as well as the career move into real estate finance. It's a hoot to think back on him thinking his first Skylark was actually a Chevelle! :ROFLMAO:

"Buick never made a muscle car!" HA.
Raced mine in Wendover airport (think Enola Gay)
LV Motor Speedway 3x
Bremerton (Seattle)
Boise
Winnemucca
Streets of Elko

NOTNSUV on V8 Buick.

I don't seek out black it just comes at me.

I've owned 1 black car, and a few dark blue. The black car had a blue pear in the paint that popped in the sun and was absolutely gorgeous, for about 30 minutes. Then years of used and neglect lead to swirl marks and frustration. I'm not saying I will never own another black vehicle, but it won't be by choice. :sneaky:

Edit; right after I posted that I remembered I was given/inherited a 1/2 black car. 🤦‍♂️ That's brings up another peeve of mine, some black paints look "chocolate", like they have some brown in there, which my car does. That bothers me much badly for some reason.

Today I bought my other car, well a truck actually. My father had been wanting to replace his 2015 Ram, yesterday he picked up a 24 Ranger lariat and today sold me his Ram! Excited for that as a new home owner a truck quickly felt needed! Since it does need some here and there things I got some brake rotors to get the brakes back to snuff.

Replaced the fuel pump on my Bronco.

Now, a full size Bronco has a 33 gallon tank, and fuel pumps only go out when the tank is at least half full.

So instead of dropping the tank I cut a fuel pump access hole and used a piece from an old F150 bed to make the cover.

Upon exposing the fuel pump, I discovered relics from the DPO (Dreaded Previous Owner, Dumb Previous Owner, or in this case Dip**** Previous Owner)

They had kinked the hard fuel line from the tank to the filter 90 degrees.

And then to add insult to the dip****ery, they also squashed the hard line nearly flat under the tank strap.

Now none of this can be seen unless you drop the tank, or in my case cut an access hole.

They probably unleashed all this carnage as they were hoisting the tank back into place.

I'm surprised the truck ran at all, though it had to be starving for fuel at high RPMs.

Oh well, I've ordered the complete tank to filter fuel line from Broncograveyard.com

The new engine will be much happier with a non-squashed fuel line.

Man I used to think I should own stock in Broncograveyard back when it was Jeff's broncograveyard.

I spent a small fortune with them.
