Car pics too cool not to share

Some of their projects are guided heavily by the owner, others they are given license. I think, from the description, the Camaro wasn't really supposed to be a full custom. I think it has a very clean look to it from the outside, the engine bay and interior, meh.

Worth a look at their finished projects...

...of which this one is definitely a personal favorite...

Project Wasaabi (Saab 900) looks interesting in its rendering stage:

I can't claim to be a Saab fan by any stretch, but that rendering does looks good.

I think @lBasket approves of the wheels.

I always thought they had a quirky coolness to them, and the 900 turbos were a thing...but I also worked on them so a bit different perspective. A few mechanics I knew swore by them in that sense, though I do think the bodies had some shortcomings (some noted by Retropower during the build). I recall people calling them "architect's cars", but as someone who now works in building construction, I can say that's not really fair to any car, much less the Saab... :sneaky:

I suspect the actual vehicle will be a stunner in the end. I really questioned those twin Austin Allegros they did, but they turned out to be pretty badass little cars.

The 900's I was around were kinda cool in the weirdest ways , They ran fairly hard and were still usable in the Colorado winter . Then the ugly would happen , the taillight circuit boards would short out , the exhaust pipe vibration isolator would fail , or someone would spill a drink/food/dirty shoes into the floor mounted ignition switch. One thing for sure is they marched to their own drum beat ! The first gen . 900 Turbo was the one I liked. The second gen. and GM tarted up Opels was their downfall in my opinion. The cheese grater wheels made me laugh.

GM tarted up Opels

I feel like I read somewhere that Saab had a bit of an issue with GM's scrap rebadging scheme and attempted to redesign the whole thing (and were somewhat successful, though likely to the detriment of the car). GM gave them a good spanking. The company didn't help itself but GM ownership was always going to be the true death of the brand. Like you said...

They were never going to play GM's game.

Frequently seen under a few pairs of snow skis, heading for the hills and fresh powder back in the day.

It interesting to me how my tastes in automotive styling have changed over time. The Saab 900 and late 70s Ford pickups are examples I didn’t care for at the time but appreciate now. Maybe its just the upright windshields🤷‍♂️

Looking at the example @ColoJeep

Edit: Dammit. For some reason I often post a reply before I’m done when using my phone…

Anyhow. I think I’d like a middle ground between that car and the retropower rendering (some wider fenders and tires but not all the other stuff)

I always liked the SAAB 900, and looked to own one, eventually. A guy at work owned an '87 9000, and loved it. Eventually he bought a new car, and I bought the now non-op 9000 for $150. I did some repairs on it, got it running, and daily-drove it for exactly two weeks. On a Saturday morning, I threw my bicycle in the back, and drove it down to a local used car lot, where I sold it to them for a couple hundred dollars more than I was into it. I rode my bike home, and never looked back. To this day, I consider that thing to be the most boring vehicle I have ever owned. It was an absolute snooze-fest to drive, or to even look at. I'm glad I was able to keep it from going to the wrecking yard, but daaaamn...

Still wouldn't mind owning a first-gen 900, though...:sneaky:

The 9000 reminds me of a Chevy Malibu Maxx

The earlier Saabs were weird and useful at the same time . Here in Colorado , Vail used Saab 99 and 900 Turbos as cop cars in the 70's and 80's.

They probably made decent cop cars for the area, or what I expect the area to be like. Are those cars AWD?

That looks like the guy that would be getting in a Saab. :sneaky:

Ugh...I cannot believe I'm actually going to admit this to anyone, but...much like the Chevy Citation, I actually like the Malibu Maxx.

I have to relinquish my "Man Card" now, don't I...? :(

They were Front wheel drive , and much better in the snow than typical rear wheel drive cars were. The only other FWD cars were Eldorados, and Torinados .
CVCC civic 's would have been a useless cop car.
