What did you do to your TJ today?

Got my OME springs back from the Powdercoaters only took three days!!!… I’ll paint the shocks this weekend

With the help from this forum I finished up the front inner axle seals and replaced the u joints.

Great to hear… this forum has helped me out of a pickle or two over the years as well.
Certainly a wealth of knowledge here.

Are the boat sides steel?

Yes, but I should have referred to them as “mini” boat sides. Sorry, that was sloppy. The steel is 3/16”.

EDIT: NeverMind, I did call them “mini.” LOL

This piece will be cut down the middle in a bandsaw and the two resulting C-channels welded near the top tub side of the sliders.

You did say mini, I just didn't 🙂 I wasn't sure if you could tig weld I guess is why I asked about material. These will turn out great I'm sure, are you gonna miss the step?

I almost fell out yesterday. LOL. It will be about 1 3/16” out from the body plus the 3/16” slider so that’s 1 3/8”. We’ll see if that helps getting out. Neither my wife or I use them to get in. Other good uses are standing on the tire and step to clean the front of the windshield. Again, maybe the small lip will still help in that respect!

@lBasket anotger thing is cutting the steps off shed a lot of weight. I’m putting a little back with that rail, but nothing like the DOM plus step. This thing is super light and I’m gonna have to get some different springs in the rear because it sits too high. 5.25”

I had my sliders off earlier this week and definitely had to get used to not having the step. Was noticeable how much I used it without previously thinking about it.

Are you @Kiwi TJ "Hobbit" short? ;) I've always found that steps put you too high to get in. Even my 5'2" wife gets in my Jeep with ease.....and lots of complaining.
p.s. If I had DDDDs, she'd have to stay home. 🥳

Lightweight is best. Supposed to be a 4" lift?? That is a huge difference. I bet you'd notice that on the trails too.

You can always do the stepstool on a string 😀
