Piss & Moan Table

Sadly, this is very typical behavior from the smartphone crowd. As I keep saying, the worldwide cost to society of these horrid things and everyone's catering to them is MASSIVE. Even Ph.D holders become idiots as soon as they pick one up. Again: What's the fucking point of them?

When we got married in 1983 I had a Alpine am/fm cassette deck and speakers installed in our 83 T-15. We had an Attache' case holder for cassettes !

Somehow, both my dogs and my neighbors dogs got out of our fenced in yards, they they met in the middle.

$700 later, we have some staples and antibiotics.

Wife is all grumpy so I said maybe you need a possum. And she said yeah may be I do!

Now its happy hour(s) on the back porch waiting for my possum buddy that hangs with me a couple nights per week.

Finally gonna get my possum and the wife is cool with it 😎

More fucking Chinese junk:

Brand new $17+ three ring binder from Amazon. No opening tabs on the ends, so I opened it with the middle ring. Upon re-closing, the top ring was sprung. Returning.

Also bought a pretty nice, but cheap keyboard on eBay. I should have known better - its 9 months old now and bouncing like crazy. Ordered a new Logitech that actually looks pretty darn similar. I'm sure they're both Hecho En China, but hopefully the Logitech is mo' bettah - I've always had good luck with their products...

To quote the late, not-so-great Adolf Hitler: "I would rather have three teeth pulled than to go through that again."

Got our air fare booked for our upcoming Egypt trip, and it was a pain in the ass. A lot of the pain was self-inflicted, my browser is pretty much locked down which isn't normally a problem. However, I wasn't thinking of that and I had problems until I remembered. Then my credit card was declined - I kinda expected that - large charge for an int'l flight. I got that fixed, and finally got the damn flights booked. The janky Wi-Fi connection to my main system didn't do me any favors either.

But the good news is - no stop over in Heathrow. The flights are going to be brutal, but that's just the way it is.

I hate printers. I hate anyone who doesn't hate printers. I hate anyone who won't stay up all night hating printers...

I threw our away years ago . We do occasionally have to come up with a plan B . But overall the lower BS level is totally worth it.

The wife got tired of buying printer cartridges, so when the last printer died, she got one of those ink tank printers.
She discovered that if you don't print something often, the ink ports get clogged and you have to go through a tedious cleaning procedure.
I told her to put a calendar reminder to print a page every week or so. She didn't do that, and now she needs to print something, so guess what?

See below for an option.

Indeed. And they don't tell you that when you buy the printer. Ink cartridges are a very high markup item and not particularly inexpensive to buy, depending on the printer. Been a peeve of mine for a long time.

I solved the issue (for me) about 4 years ago with the purchase of an inexpensive Canon B&W laser printer. I think I'm still running on the reduced size demo toner installed from the factory. Dry toner, no clogs, fast crisp prints. I do miss the color option but, truth is, 99% of my printing requirements are black and white.

THIS. The printer I just replaced was a monochrome HP All-in-one laser that was probably 15 years old. It was fine, although it went through the toner. New one is a Brother - also a monochrome all-in-one laser. I so seldom need to print color that I just go to Fed-Ex or where ever when I do.

As far as inkjets go - stay away from Epson and others that use tanks. In fact, stay away from Epson altogether - I've never had much good to say about Epson - they were junk in 1978 and they're junk now as far as I'm concerned.

The new Brother seems to be fantastic. I plugged it in, pressed the WPS button on my router, it hooked up, and my Linux boxes found it without any further ado. Prints and scans with zero fiddling - and for anything Linux that doesn't require fiddling around, that's QUITE the accomplishment

I just got back from 3 weeks cruising and land travel in Europe. With my smartphone I printed my luggage tags for the cruise, down loaded my boarding passes, communicated with my travel partners via text, navigated in every town with google maps, booked uber rides, got tickets for attractions, checked local weather forecasts, used google translate, took pictures and videos, kept up with news back home and found some great pubs and restaurants. All with my good ole iphone 8. I did get a lot of ribbing from my travel partners for having such an old phone but hey it works for me.
