Found limits of departure angle, need new tailgate

I finally took some pictures of my setup. One strap over the top going from the car seat anchor to the footman loop (no claims that this is sufficient but it’s a permanent temporary fix).

Damage assessment:

One bent hinge pin bolt in the morryde.

MORRyde tub reinforcement bracket is no longer square at the fold where it meets the back of the tub.

The rest of the MORryde kit seems to be unscathed. It did a great job at transferring as much of the energy as possible to the tub. 😒

Looks like surface for lower hinge is pulled out.

Top of tub pushed in. What's weird to me is the bend appears to be below where it's supported by the wheel well.

I tried pulling out on the tub while tapping the bend with my shrinking hammer but it's not going anywhere. I'm a bodywork novice so I think I'm in over my head. Unless you yayhoos have any actionable advice that works within my skill set I guess I'll be getting some body work quotes next week. 😢

@mrblaine obviously I'm not the first person to have this issue, if anyone has experience with this type of damage I figure it would be you. Any wisdom you can offer that will help me going in knowing whether the shop is being honest?

Blocks on the inside of the tub to spread out the load and a portapower between the roll bar and block?

Doesn't that prevent the seat from tumbling? I could probably tolerate that but it wouldn't be ideal.

I’ve got Mastercrafts on the bases but I can flip the seat back forward to access the space behind the seats and the floor. I’m only stuffing gear back there it’s not like anyone is accessing the rear seat.

Might work if I run a 2x4 across both roll bars and push from that with the low profile ram. Where the tub needs pushed is inboard of the roll bar tubes so I can't push directly from that.

I'm also nervous as hell that I do something stupid and screw things up even worse like tearing out the spot welds between the tub and fender well. My bodywork experience is limited to simple panel dents.

1/4 aluminum
Armor with counter sunk screws ,no one will ever know

Take it to a few collision repair places for a quote on an hr or two of metal moving without paint work?

Somewhere the guy doing the work is sober and not a child

yeah I'm gonna do that first. I can do the paint work if it needs it. If it costs close to the same as a porto power setup then it'll be a no brainer.

Unlike mine, this tailgate is straighter than the average Home Depot 2x8.

Thinking what I might do is run it with tire snubbers all the time, but put studs in the mounting holes for the spare mount. On the rare occasions I need to carry the spare on the back I'll just toss it on with nuts.
