Advice on bumper hunting

That ARB Bumper anywhere else available besides Quadratec? Being in Canada if I want to ship this thing I'll have to go take out another mortgage... Quadratec charges absurd shipping to Canadians.

How much do they want for shipping? I saw it on a few other sites but man they are expensive haha https://www.4wd.com/p/1998-Jeep-Wra...hNwrJRllxt0gO4dkboGIerFT76h7oT-4aApHTEALw_wcB

That's a different one. You have to look closely. The one you linked the bumper actually extends all the way to the flares. While the one I am looking at is more "stubby" it only goes out to the end of the fenders. There is like a solid $400-$500 price difference between the two.

Haha ok, it’s early here! Yea I see the difference. I was thinking man that’s a crazy price jump! They are both pretty cool. Idk about 400-500$ more however haha

Yah I agree. The smaller of the two is $499.

And shipping they basically want almost half of the bumper value.. $230.

After reading this thread Wednesday I decided I might be in the market for one as well. That night I followed my own advice (posted earlier in the thread) and cast a wide net, doing a Craigslist search for “Jeep bumper”. No luck on Craigslist. However, doing the same search on Facebook Marketplace I only had to scroll through about 75 results before I got lucky. The sole picture in the ad was… odd, as was the description. The ad said he bought the Jeep with it and was told by the seller that the it was a custom bumper. So, it looked like the Rock Crawler, but with some kind of plastic cover over the winch mount area. I thought it was possible some guy built a custom replica. So, I messaged the seller with a picture of the Rock Crawler bumper. He confirmed that’s what it looked like underneath the plastic. This is his first Jeep and he made the critical mistake of telling me then asking me if he was priced too high! So, yesterday I made the 2 hour drive and picked it up. He also had a trailer hitch that I grabbed since I needed one. Along the way there is a Jeep shop selling the OEM fog lights, so I picked a pair of those up to mount them on.

The bumper is covered with surface rust and it was a 4 hour round-trip, so I don’t feel like I totally robbed the kid.

The first picture is from the listing. I’m not sure where the plastic cover came from, but I kind of like it since I don’t have a winch. I’ll have to see what it looks like mounted up. The cover fits perfect, the only odd thing is the font with the strange gap between letters. If it weren’t for that I’d think it was a Jeep add-on. Anyone have any clue?

I did some wire-wheeling last night. I’ve got more prep to do, then paint over the weekend. I’ll post up more pics when I’m done. BTW, if anyone gets one, pull the rubber bumperettes off and check/treat any rust. They seem to trap moisture/crap.

Don’t be jealous, be encouraged that they’re out there, you just gotta be determined, diligent and cast a wide net. You might have to sift through some crap, but that can be fun.

Hahaha I can’t belive these are popping up like this! Nice score. I have never seen that plastic piece before. Makes me wonder if it acts like a winch delete piece or something? Def unique and different. Does that lineup perfect and fit it like it was made for it?

It lines up absolutely perfect. It might not look like it in the pictures, but that’s because it’s not bolted on in the pictures. I’ll get some better pictures over the weekend.
That’s pretty awesome. Gonna get it repowdercoated or are you going to spray it yourself with some black after you sand it down?

I'm just going to spray it myself. It's not mint, I'm not a perfectionist and my Jeep is pretty rough. We can't have anything nice in the Northeast.
The reality is, I should be trying to flip the thing and put the money toward other more needed areas of attention my Jeep needs.

Oh I’m jealous [emoji12]but not in a bad way! That’s awesome you found one, how much did you end up getting it for? I bet a fresh powder coat would help prevent any rust from coming back in the future! I know I will find one, I need to improve my searching skills a little. I am already learning some cool tricks tho, like saving searches on eBay, I didn’t know I could even do that!

I’m going to get it on my Jeep this weekend. If I’m not in love with it I may just give it up.

I currently have the stock bumper on there. I’m pretty neutral on it, but I love how lightweight it is.
