I do like the Merc, but I'm quite interested in the red heap next to it (though I always prefer a factory hood over cowl induction). :p

It was a 67 Chevy II SS , 383/350 , some kind of Mustang II based front end with no inner fenders . Red on Red interior . 17" polished American 5 spokes.

Being an old boomer having owned several from-new now collectible American cars (1st new car being a '68 Camaro SS/RS 350 4-spd, a Corvette and a few Fox-bodied Mustangs), I subsequently gravitated to Japanese and Euro cars (from-new '72 Datsun 240z and from-new '74 Alfa GTV for 25 yrs). Now, of the 5 vehicles I own, my only "sporty car" is a diminutive MINI Cooper.

Shown below, mine is the 2006 R53 S-spec "slicktop" in the foreground equipped with multiple chassis and engine performance mods from new for the previous original owner, then subsequently tamed by me for practical streets and highways usage. From purchase from him 4+ yrs ago at 4k miles, now has 9.5k total miles. In the background is my buddy's 2006 R53 factory JCW "Checkmate" edition, now at 10.5k total miles. The 2nd pic shows my engine bay which features a W2A intercooler for the Eaton M45 s-charger. Not dyno'd but clearly exceeds that of said buddy's 210hp rated JCW. The term "adult go cart" is often overused, but IMO does apply here.

I had a 67 DPL, black on black, with 73 Matador doors on it while in high school. One of two cars I’d like to have again. I always liked the black headlight bezels of the 67 better than the chrome bezels of the 68.

Finding a nice '67 DPL ain't easy these days. Last year for the old style of exterior door handles, as I'm sure you know. '68 and up had the paddle-style that AMC used until their demise. My buddy had a '67 Rebel SST years ago. Also a nice car. ;)
