We (work) have a Trimble 3d scanner we use for scanning curved and angled areas for stairs and whatnot. Amazing what this thing will do. We got it for a large 12" pipe diagrid amphitheater down the valley a ways, both for fabrication and erection.

I'm going to do the rear of the tub for a small project, and was considering removing the front seats/console and doing the whole tub. Wondering if anyone would be interested in a solidworks model of it.

I really don't think I'm going to be doing anything up front past what I've done, but if there is interest in it I'll do it. I want to add heat shield in a couple places anyhow, so I'll combine the effort.

Just dooo it! Seriously, I'm looking forward to the day were more people have 3D scanners and scan/share models. would be great for the resources area.

Absolutely!! Every project I take on, Jeep related or otherwise, starts with a CAD drawing. Having a 3-D scan would be a huge help.

Ditto. Would really like the area forward of my shifter... want to 3d print a gauge pod for that space.

there is some dead space above/behind the actual instrument cluster that I believe could hold a set of partially recessed gauges, recessed enough that wouldn't obstruct any view. I picked up a spare bezel to do some cutting on but my knowledge of intersecting conic sections & expertise with a dremel was insufficient to make it work how I wanted. But the possibility is there.

Interior dimensions that I can't get easily without the top off. I built an interior overhead rack for the drivers area and couldn't find good data on the spacing of the holes in the roll bar so I had to wing it. A CAD file with the tub and roll bar dimensions makes this a shorter project.

I also have an TMR customs DIY crossmember kit, and mocking up the mounting in my house with a TJ frame CAD file is alot better than laying on 120° pavement and taking measurements.

Other crazy ideas are things like a Packout wall mount between the rear driver-side rollbar and tub, or an auxiliary, removable OBA tank mount that hugs the rollbar. But again, its hotter than bird shit on a tin roof outside.

I'd bet if you scanned multiple TJs you wouldn't have any that matched. Mopar is notorious for awful tolerances and quality control.

Auto Metal Direct has a terrible time building/stamping panels for 60s and 70s Mopar muscle cars because everything is everywhere.
