Drivers seat

I’m concerned for the safety of your head if you move the seat further back.

Are you taller in your legs, torso, or is your height proportionate? This might be something worth considering.

I am 6'7" and had to use these. They worked perfectly.

I now have the big boy brackets in combo with the @XCRN lowering brackets to get the seat were I need it. After replacing the foam and skins, the seats were just too high for me.

I'm 6'1" 215, and I normally move the seat forward a bit. I don't like to be too far back. I was originally 185 lb., 28 years ago. So, my girth has forced me to move the seat back a little bit. But, I'm still two the three clicks forward from fully back. I just don't want to be too comfortable. It reduces the strength in my muscle response.

Nice to hear there are options for the giants of the forum. How much lower does the seat sit with the lowering bracket?

They drop the seat height about 2in. Current revision also moves the seat track back an additional 1in. The first version that @gbirk has moves it back is closer to 1-1/2 to 2in I believe.

same here - 6'5" and 205. 36" inseam. The TJ is the most comfortable (ergonomically) of the 4 vehicles we own.

Looks like you fixed the angle on the front end. That is awesome. I used some aluminum bar to just raise the back up a bit more to get the mouning angle right for the back bolts, but I lost a bit of the benefit of the brackets by doing that. Also, by doing that it leveled out the seat quite a bit making the seating position "knee high" to where my thighs were floating above the seat. I had to move it back using my old big boy brackets to give myself enough leg room to get my thighs back on the leather. I kind of miss the high seating position as I think it was ultimately more comfortable, but after replacing the seat foam, and having new skins installed my head was just way too high.

This is what I ended up doing. All-in-all I think the brackets gave me about 1.5" more headroom, but I lost at least 0.75 with the big boy brackets and new foam/skins.

These big boy brackets look like the ticket. Are you guys removing the tilt up system?

I only used the BB Bracket on my drivers side, and it is not a tilt, just the standard slide adjustment. I do not think you can use the @XCRN bracket with a tilt, but I think the BB bracket would still work.

Correct about the tilt unfortunatly. Though I did find out if you use something like PRP reclining seats, they do tilt forward enough to allow somewhat easy access to the back. I am 6’ and overweight but did not struggle getting into the back with the seat reclined all the way forward. Not sure factory seats can tilt that far forward though.

Yeah, they do, and much farther. My seats actually tilt and tumble forward. At least the passenger seat does. I believe that is a feature for all TJ's at least 97-02.
