Since we have so many do-it yourselfer's and hopefully cigar lovers, I thought I'd share my cigar lounge build above my new garage we built last spring. The lounge will have a smoke evacuation system, air purifier and an Ozonizer system to eliminate the smell, without the ozonizer the room would always stink. I'll install a coolador in the wall at the top of the stairs for my cigars. Lot's of other goodies planned as well.
The lounge is Medieval themed (my Scottish heritage) and I’ll document its progress here as I go.
The front Cathedral facade and foyer will all be fake stone, the door is 10’ feet tall, weighing 175lbs and has aged bronze Clavos that I verdigris aged on the wooden lattice castle door.
The door knocker is about 2' tall , solid iron and weighs in at 14lbs, it sounds like a bowling ball hitting a wooden floor when knocked.
The lanterns you see are antique gas wrought iron that I rewired, the lantern sitting on the bottom stair will hang from the vestibule above the front door, can you imagine the time spent making these? I stole em for $25-$50 bucks each at various antique shops. I used LED "flame" bulbs that actually look like real gas flames.
Here’s a peak so far... this will be a fun project.
Feel free to comment or give any suggestions you may have, I value feedback.
If there's no interest, I'll just discontinue the thread.

Top of door casing you see open will be closed in with the other lantern (on ground) hanging from the center to illuminate that area and above the stairs, which is about ~3' of dark space.
There's about 5 stairs up to the bottom of the door.

View from first landing going up to second level, this huge open space creates an "echo chamber" for my 14lb door knocker, it's loud to say the least.
Everything you see here up to the top landing will be fake stone as well, I'll create that too.
IMG-2891.jpg

All the stairs have been pegged and glued with dowels for strength and appearance which will look really cool with the dowels showing up in a different color when stained, the finish on the steps will be similar to the door, risers will be same flooring used upstairs (reclaimed old wood).
Good shot of the iron lantern to be hung above the door too.
IMG-2900.jpg

View of the room upstairs, 28'X24' looking through the half wall at top of the stairs, knee walls are a little over 5' and room is 28' long, peak is around 10', the end wall will be all bookcase (I collect antique books too and the bookcase I built in my den is almost full) Notice I have all my electrical wiring running at the baseboard or headers to free up wall studs for various cubby shelving/cabinets I'll build.

I'm buying the furniture now as I find it because I don't want that holding me up when I'm done.
I'm only buying European style, leather Club Chairs and maybe a Chesterfield tufted loveseat. Decor will be Medieval with some images of our ancestral castle in Scotland (Duart Castle) but in a Dark Academia style.
Some Club Chairs I've scored so far, I have two identical in the French "Moustache" club chairs (that's natural patina too) and the other one you see here so far, the more worn and scuffed, the better. i need seating for about 6 minimum at a time, sometimes we have as many as 9-10 on "Cigar Tuesdays" I've been doing with my best buddy for the last 10 years or so.

Close-up of one of those "Moustache" chairs.
That's real patina too, wonderfully delicious!

My best buddy's cigar lounge at his house, he stole the idea from me lol. That's the alcove to his walk-in humidor in the back, he stole that idea from me too. lol
I'm the good looking dude in the front.

Got the inside of my door, door frame aged and finished as of today, just need to get it hung and I'll get photos of that next.
Hinges get really pricey when you get above the 200lbs a set range ($100+ per), I found these at Lowes (200lbs) of all places for $60 bucks total and they're almost 1/4" thick too, a close-up of the hinge.
(Displayed on the outside for reference)
More to come...

That is pretty COOL...

I've got an expensive cigar habit that I need to cut back on... Wish I had the room for a cigar lounge but my garage is where I smoke my cigars 95% of the time.
It'd be cool to have a shop with a loft in it where I could smoke & watch TV....

Look forward to see how this all turns out.

Thanks guy's, as long as there's any interest I'll keep it updated.
Got a line on 3 more club chairs, all my hardware for my door is finally in and got the first of two coats of varnish on the inside of the door.
More to come...

We have a functioning door and latch, the door stop trim still needs to be added, but here she is.
Everything you see in wood from the bottom of the stairs up to the door, except the stairs, will be fake stone. (the appearance of sides being oval is just an optical allusion)
IMG_2954.jpg

The open space you see up to the top will be boxed in at the top and my other wrought iron lantern will hang from the center (removed gargoyle lantern temporarily for construction)
The gap between the door and facing is for the Portcullis (no, it won't be functional).

Inside of the door and Medieval latch.
IMG_2953.jpg

Here you can the massive hinges, the 175lb door glides freely though. Notice the "overkill" blocking support in the wall, the whole wall has added horizontal cross ties between the studs for extra stability.
(because the door stop trim on the outside isn't done yet the light showing through is giving off another optical allusion)

Ok, before you mounted the door I had my doubts, but I love it. Going to have a good smoke? You don’t want to walk thru some cheap ass interior door…this is what you want!

Nice work!

Doubt's, you doubted me? Mawhahahaha Mawhahahaha!
My biggest mistake: letting the wife know I have mad carpenter skills. lol
Seriously, when I told my wife of my plans, she was like...umhummm, so you're gonna build a big door, okaaaaay?
Yesterday she was like, okay, wow, that really does look good and smiled!
She doubted me too.
Lots more to come...

Mr. Tray Burge I just happened to see a pic of your tan TJ - sorry to hijack this thread - that is the best color I've ever seen! What is it and how do I find it? My factory patriot blue paint is in very good shape but your jeep makes me want to paint it

No problem, thanks for the compliment.
tbh, it was painted by MAACO paint before I bought it and it's just a stock color I believe, tan, sorry I don't have a paint code for it.
Here's a much better picture of the true color, print it out and they could probably tell you what color it is? Good luck!

Discovered one thing, FB Marketplace is loaded with fruitcakes. Man-o-man, nut-jobs!
I'm literally stealing all these leather club chairs from people just wanting them gone, but there are some real whackos on there too! lol
Did a 4hr round trip today to pick up the green "Old Hickory Tannery Leather Co." tufted wing club chair with just the right amount of character.
This chair will be reserved for a certain friend I had in mind for it when I bought it.
Then there were four...

I just made the ultimate score today, a genuine 1920's style gentlemen's smoking club lounge chair
This is literally the "Steve McQueen" of all club chairs it's so cool . This is the chair that started it all.
TaDa!

...and then there were 5.

Not a smoker just love watching the handiwork. Quite impressive so far

"Details" is what it's all about.
No big updates, just finished the inside door trim and staining, but...!
Can't have a medieval door without a medieval door lock?
Scored this 17th century functional antique rim lock and key off eBay out of England, can't tell by the picture, but this old box rim lock is a huge, 10" long and 6" in height, just what the door needed to finish it off.

Parts coming in!
Projects to do...
My 17th century rim lock finally came in from England and I'm blown away!
Weighs 4.7 lbs and bigger than I imagined (10" x6" x 2"), check out the size of that key!
Gave it a little Kroil down inside the mvt and now it operates smoothly with a loud CLUNK in the bolt action.

My door pull is being delivered today too, so I'll wait and get my hardware to mount all at the same time tomorrow probably, unless it gets here early.
Tonight's "Cigar Tuesday's" so I won't be working late.
The door pull is antique too and 17" long resembling a Pike, wanted something with a simple, cool looking design in itself for simplicity.

The verdigris lions head (bought elsewhere) will be mounted on the door front for the key hole cover, it came in solid brass all shiny and new, but salt and vinegar cured that after a few days.
The key "just" fits through too, what a huge key! lol

Very cool.

And Jimmy left us so many good things. All the Pirates and the Parrots sing...

The door is finally finished, decided against the Portcullis because I didn't wanna block any of the details.
The lock operates with a gratifying "CLUNK".
On to the stone walls...

Door pull, antique but I have no history on it.

How the walls will be made...
The walls won't be hard, just time consuming. The walls will be made of textured foam insulating sheets over a solid surface, concrete slurry and then painted and dry brushed, of course the stones and style can vary wildly?
Believe it or not, this is an example of someone else's wall made in this fashion, very realistic.

I know you said you are going to have a ventilation system but, do you have no fear of the foam retaining a smoke smell?
