Hey everyone I just wanted to get some thoughts and ideas on my LJ. I’m sure these types of posts have been beat to death.
Anyways, I’ve had this for a couple years now and it’s been great. Silver 05 LJ with 206k miles. PO installed 4inch RC lift (not my idea) and came with 31inch tires I believe. Runs good other than some wobble at speed (45-55). It is not my intention to fully build this out for the most insane trails ever. I really just want a good solid 4x4 to take to the lake and mild trails near me, and I want to have solid drivability around town.
I’ve had to put a new catalytic converter on it actually yesterday. Other than that I haven’t done anything else to it yet. I have a Currie currectlync steering system and Track bar to put on it soon, as well as a new steering damper. I’m hoping the steering upgrades cure the wobble.
Question on currectlync : Do I have to replace the stock bumpstops when installing the Currie tie rod and draglink? The instruction manual says it needs to have at least 2inch bumpstops. I will be installing myself and don’t really see the need for this but I do want to install it right the first time.
Also, I ordered a bulldawg mfg hardtop for it. Still waiting for this to be built and shipped. I’m going to put in the Armorlite flooring once I get the top it and do all of that at once.
Future plans for the rig :
BRAKES! (Needs them pretty bad) new rotors, calipers, and pads. Probably going to go with Black Magic Brakes for this.
Wheel bearings all the way around
Axle U-Joints
Possibly new control arms
I just wanted to start this discussion to see if yall had any ideas or advice for me and the LJ. Thanks for reading and any suggestions!
