I’ve done a lot of internet searching and even tried contacting the Denso company with no luck. Does anyone here possibly have this same compressor on their 98 TJ? I’ve replaced every part and lines on my AC system but want to reuse this compressor that I got off of a running Jeep engine. The compressor was drained before I got it. I can’t read how much PAG-46 I need to add. It looks like something 30 or 80 ML? It could be 130 180 230 280 etc. You get the point LOL

Just a small amount is needed initally maybe 2 ounces or so since the oil travels with the refrigerant and the bulk of the oil remains in the system components.

Go to Resources and download the FSM for your year.

I wouldn't worry about the label. Since you've replaced everything else there will be no oil in the system. Drain the compressor and refill with the correct amount of oil for your year.

I just to wan’t to give better details… everything has been replaced with new parts except the compressor. New evaporator, drier, condenser and both sets of lines. I turned the compressor upside down to make sure there was no oil in it (a few small drips came out). So I just want to make sure I don’t over/under fill the compressor before I bring it to get the system vacuumed and charged. Everything is in place and connected except the fitting at the compressor and I left the 3 electric connections off so it won’t try to turn on. Thanks for the replies so far.

System capacity is 8oz so if all the components are empty of oil the distribution would be about 1 to 2 ounces each in the evap and condenser coils, about 3 ounces in the accumulator and the remainder in the compressor.

So in my FSM it states that at the factory all the components are installed dry and the total oil amount is added to the compressor and gets distributed when the system runs. Can I theoretically do the same procedure? Sorry for all the questions I’ve just never messed with an AC system before. This has been a 3 year project. New to me rust free 6cyl frame swap, 4.0 and 32RH swap. The Jeep was originally an SE 2.5 ax-5 jeep. I’m days away from its first start.

No, filling the compressor with all the oil can make a grenade of the compressor. Distribute the oil as sugested and youll be fine.

Thank you for your previous replies! I’m just now getting back to working on the AC system. So for each component you listed do I just inject or pour the correct amount down one of tubes? I’m thinking about using a medicine style syringe with the measurements on it. I’m going to verify first that the components I bought didn’t come pre-oiled as I’ve seen some might be. I do have a bottle of the PAG-46 oil ready to go.

Yep, pretty much just distribute to each component and your good to go.
