I think Jerry and @Woodrow share the same calves...

🙂

Did someone say Woodrow's calves?

All bolt-on long arm systems are trash.

You'd be best off swapping it out for a 4" RockJock / Savvy short arm lift.

Chris i know this is an old post, but if someone already invested time and money on lift kits in the 4-6 " range and wants to upgrade to long arm, what else other than swapping out entire kit do you recommend?

You've got three options:
  1. Replace the long arm lift with a quality short arm setup.
  2. Replace the long arm lift with a Savvy mid-arm.
  3. Keep it the way it is and just learn to live with it.
I can't see any other way forward other than what I've just mentioned.

Thank you for your thoughtful advise/recommendations. I actually have a 6 " RC lift with their long arm upgrade and I actually love the way my jeep rides. I did swap out my shocks to FOX 2.0s and love this setup. I know, this site and many others like this bash on RC products all day long, but I am here to tell you that I am very pleased with their product and will continue to purchase from them. That being said, I respect your opinion and the opinions of others on this site.

If you like it and the way it rides then keep it. Who cares what anyone else thinks. If you ever get to the point where you’re wheeling hard enough that that lift shows its weak points, you’ll know.

I hear a lot of folks crap on long arm setups(and i’m sure for good reasons). Ours is a RE kit with the tri-link rear truss.

My take:

Ride on the highway: 7/10
Ride on surface streets: 7/10
Flex offroad: 8/10
Durability: _/10 (been fine so far for 1.5yrs but time will tell.

Honestly, it rides/tracks/behaves VERY civilized and predictably in my opinion, to the extent that my wife driving it as a DD for a few days was a complete non-event.

So, i agree with the above poster - give it and yourself a chance to get to know each other. Maybe it’s exactly what you want, or maybe a mid-arm will be the bee’s knee’s. :)

For me, i love how 4” of suspension lift and 2” of body lift looks/operates/behaves on 35’s

Hey brother, love your set up with the long arms and 35's. I have a 6' lift with long arms all from RC. I love the improved ride and articulation of the suspension. The jeep is a pleasure to ride. I have not come across any problems that folks talk about on this site, then again I do not abuse or take unnecessary driving risks with my jeep. I enjoy the jeep and accept its limitations and love its looks. Keep on enjoying your ride as you like. Ill try to post some pics of my jeep in the near future.

Since you are going to keep doing this, everything you like about your long arms is to be attributed to the shocks.

Yeah the magical and mystical alignment shop was the problem. New alignment shop is actually doing the work and my jeep is riding much better. Thank for all the visual aids of prior conversations. Helps your readers understand your posts better.

Am I going to get that tape measure picture or just quit worrying about it?

Appreciate your feedback, looking to get mine to similar setup as what you’re running. This is my second TJ and have 0 experience with long arm set ups. Excited to get some wheel time and see how it compares. Got a killer deal on this rubicon, definitely not the kit I would personally buy so trying to get some feedback and recommendations for coils/shocks.
Don't bother asking for any real advise here, all you'll get is what someone else's preferences are. Enjoy your rig as you like it. keep searching for answers and don't give up. Remember jeeps have different driving characteristics than other vehicles and keep that in mind when you lift or modify your rig. Enjoy

To summarize what you wrote and what your position is, keep searching until your confirmation bias is satisfied.

I keep trying to help but you keep ignoring me. Last chance, can you post up a pic of the height of your frame off of the ground at the center bolt of the belly skid please? Who knows, you might could actually learn something.
I have learned enough from this site. Thanks for the great job of promoting enthusiasm for the love of jeeps! NOT! I'll get my information elsewhere, this site is really useless and just an ego trip for most. The idea of this site is great, the implementation and dissemination of knowledge and information...not so much!

@Chris will delete your account if you ask him nicely.
