Severely rusted floor pan, worth getting fixed?

I mean, it's been said: anything is fixable if you try hard enough. That said, I rescued a TJ that was worse than this, and I'm still figuring in a frame swap to let my scabbed up old one finally die a few years down the road. I don't know what the rest of your tub is like, but when I started cutting to replace the front floor pans, I found out pretty quickly that the whole tub was toast. You're looking at a lot of work yourself (frame patching and never-ending fist fight with the ensuing rust; gutting and redoing probably way more than just a floor pan if it's gonna have a prayer of lasting for very long) or a pretty sizable expense to have a shop dig into it. Cooper Smith is not kidding whatsoever with the southern TJ thing; for what I have into my rig, I could have just bought a rust free one and not spent a year with rust encapsulator on my fingers and bits of frame in my teeth. You could just scab it up and wait for it to give up the ghost, or feed it to a new rig. I totally get the sentimental attachment thing though; that's the only reason my rig is still going, and it is nice to see TJs being brought back from the grave. Personally, I wouldn't pay a shop to do it, but if you want to take it on yourself and it's not your DD, you could give it a go. It'll never be rust free, but if that's not your goal and it means a lot to you, it's not beyond saving. My $.02.

Thanks Dylan, appreciate the input. I think I'll take a similar path, keep the ole thing going as long as I can without breaking the bank and use it as a learning experience.

I would not pay a shop to repair or you'll be way upside down and still have a rusty TJ. Sheet metal the pan and use Henry's Roof Repair tar and drive it until the motor or tranny goes south. If the motor and tranny are in good condition, maybe look for a TJ with a blown motor or bad tranny and swap out your running gear. I would not want to put a bunch of money in a rusty vehicle, just my .02.
