Educate me, is that an aftermarket head, or did Ford send these out with aluminum heads?

Ford built these and installed them in "Boss" 429 Mustangs to make it a "production" engine for NASCAR. The engines would be used in Talladaga Torinos for NASCAR .
I'm not the biggest Ford guy , but that's it in a nutshell .

So I'm reading that as 429 "Boss" engines were aluminum headed, and the other 429s likely were not, like the Cobra Jet and Super Cobra Jet. Is that right? I'd go down that rabbit hole myself, but I'm on a time crunch right now. :(

Guys, they finally did it, they located my next project, a '40 Ford Delux wagon. Low miles and still has it's original engine. Ran when parked. Just need to find time to go get it. I'm gonna fix it someday. :sneaky:

I saw that a couple of days ago. I love just how baffled they were by it when they saw it there. My first thought (even before they said as much) was that it was likely some high-ranking official's car, or the captain's. Wonder if they'll ever find out the real story to its being there...

That was my thoughts as well. I'd guess there are pictures of it somewhere, likely being used. It's a pretty cool find, and I wouldn't be surprised to see live munitions near it. I find wreck diving interesting because of stuff like that. Of course, the Yorktown garage is a little beyond reach. :sneaky:

This feels a lot like an American version of the Peel P50... 😀

I've ridden in one. Met a guy at a car show back in the early '90s who owned one. Anyways, he took me for a ride in it. On the road, I remember looing up at the driver of an '80s Honda Accord. Need I say more? ;)

Some more pic of those Nash. That fresh water with marine growth looks to be hammering on them. Of course, it's been 100 years now so... maybe not that bad.

For you guys thinking that looks a little "haunty", it is. You should try it in person when it is a little dark, murky, and you're alone in the silence with just your thoughts and the Boogie man who you know is about to grab you from one of those dark holes.

Just a bit. And both the driver and I were rather large individuals, and found ourselves leaning out over the doors a bit just to fit in the car. I'm sure it was quite a sight to the other drivers.

Probably looked like a rejected circus act...

I suspect, given the physics, you could have steered it simply by synchronized leaning. 😀
