Least expensive scan tool that does everything

As mentioned, thinkdiag2 for the cam crank readings were awesome, but it is a little slow. takes about a minute to get to any page like reading codes or reading data stream, but havent had any issues in the last 3 months, and if i ever need to read codes, I just use the key trick to read off the cluster gauge. No problems with the bluetooth and the app takes a little getting used to, but has so much good information and tools, for the price, if you really need one, it's worth it. Might look to a non subscription based one when this one runs out, as new scanners keep coming out with better prices and more capabilites.

In case anyone thought about an XTool Scan Tool.....
I have the D8 and I cannot recommend it for anything older than 2010.

It does nearly nothing on my pre 2007 Chrysler/Dodge vehicles and nothing at all for pre 2005 Chrysler/Dodge vehicles.
It starts to pick up vehicles after 2012 fairly well.

Waste of money for earlier vehicles. Don't believe their advertising.
Their advertising used to claim it covered pre-2003 vehicles but after a pretty drawn out scuffle with them I think they removed those claims.

I'm tempted by the Innova 5610/
My current tool is basic and can read engine codes, but not transmission codes, and also has no re-learn functionality...I need to do crankshaft relearn.

Any reason NOT to get that one? prefer not to spend $500+ for the Xtool stuff

I say go for it. Order it just before you need it so you can return it if it does not successfully perform the crankshaft relearn, though that would put you in a spot if the Jeep is your daily driver and you can't do the relearn. When I was researching for the original post, I could niot 100% confirm that it could do the relearn.

I ended up getting a Autel MaxiCheck MX808S-TS, which was both expensive and more than I needed. It also had a subscription model that can get expensive. So far I've used it 4 times, once to to my crank relearn, once to try and program a key (ended up not working becuae the extra key was not programmable) and twice on my son's O4 Escape which is having some EGR issues (hopefully to be resolved with new parts that are on their way). If you can confirm the 5610 works, I can update the original post so we can help more people out. I probably should have took a chance on the 5610 instead of spending way more for the Autel.

thanks. It's not my daily driver and I've lived with the CEL since I had my recon engine fitted. I'm about to replace the TCC Solenoid (and possibly valve body) so not going to do the crankshaft relearn for a couple of weeks, so will order at the last moment like you suggested and provide feedback so you can update the post (excellent post btw - all the info in once place)

confirming that the Innova 5610 does NOT work for the crankshaft relearn on my 2006. The option is there in the menu under Jeep OEM Functions > Special Functions, but when you select the option it says "done" but doesn't actually do anything.

Thanks for the update and sorry it did not work. I will update the first thread.

I have an update to this. I recently got a new PCM from wranglerfix...and out of curiosity, I tried my Innova 5610 again....this time it did manage to reset the crankshaft sync. Very odd why it wouldn't work on my original PCM

Apologies for the confusion and/or changing my experience, but with a new PCM...I was able to fix.

Lowest price I've seen for the Thinkdiag2 $116.99
