Hollywood movie remake and other garbage thread

I wished they would do a remake of "final countdown". Old movie, but still one of the best movies made if you enjoy movies like top gun.
It would be cool if the remake they do full on defense of the zereos.

"The Goonies" are officially back.

Warner Bros. has hired Potsy Ponciroli to write the script for the sequel, it was announced Friday - almost 40 years after the original movie hit theaters back in 1985. Steven Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario will produce for Amblin Entertainment alongside Chris Columbus, who wrote the original "Goonies" script. Lauren Shuler Donner will executive produce. There is no director attached to the sequel yet, and there are no plot details revealed yet.

Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan and Martha Plimpton all starred in the original 1985 movie about a group of kids who find an ancient map to hidden treasure. Directed by Richard Donner and produced by Spielberg, "The Goonies" made $125 million worldwide at the box office from a budget of just $19 million. It's gone on to become a cult classic and was selected to be preserved in the National Registry by the Library of Congress in 2017.

Recently, Quan starred in his own action movie, "Love Hurts," that opened in theaters last week. After starring in "The Goonies" as a child, Quan has had a career resurgence thanks to his Academy Award winning performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once" and a role in the Marvel and Disney+ series "Loki."

He talked about a "Goonies" reunion at the "Love Hurts" world premiere, where his co-star Feldman joined him at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

"It's one of the most asked questions in my life," Quan said. "I would love for it to happen."

Feldman added, "All I can say is, get us all together. Everybody is looking good. Sean's looking good. Josh is looking good. We're all looking good still, and we're all alive. Goonies never say die…There's hope."

There's a chance this may actually be worth watching - its a sequel not a remake with (presumably) largely the original cast and the same script guy.

By about 1000x. The second one had almost the same plot as the original but was over the top stupid. Those emperor twins? Riding a rhino? Sharks in the colosseum?!

They did have ship battles in the Colosseum, surprised they didn't think of sharks. The twins were pretty special.

A Logan's Run remake could be good.

Some updated visuals the awesome sound that is pure 70s might do really well

So -

Who can name the movie that influenced the design of the city in Logan's run? Hint: Said movie had an influence on Star Wars as well. No peeking!

I only looked at images because it's been awhile since I saw this movie, but I'm gonna guess 2001: A Space Odyssey? I'm going to go look it up after this because I have no idea!

Odyssey certainly had a huge influence on Sci-Fi - but the one I'm looking for is far older. Exterior shots of the city in both Logan's run and the other. Robot in Star Wars and the film in question.

I have an idea but not gonna say as I'm not certain.

I liked the book Logan's Run but I thought the movie sucked in comparison.

Just recently discovered there is a sequel to the book called Logan's World that I'll have to check out.
