Anyone install hood vents?

Wildman - What was your reason for installing hood vents and did it make any changes?

Did you read any of the comments from the beginning of the thread??

I'd done vents back in 2007 to try to allow some of the heat to escape when I had the Magnum V-8. Do I need it for the Hemi? I don't know since I haven't had it on the trail long enough yet. But at this point I've already got the hood cut & modified. I also like the look of the Poison Spyder vent plate.
The one from MotoBilt is nice also but different too.

Must have been an off brand version as the Poison Spyder one I have has the cutouts to go around the washer nozzles.

If you want the saw I'll have it shipped to my house & then mail it to you if that helps.. If you're talking about the vent the same applies.

I know you could find a saber saw in Germany.

If it doesn't have the Spyder logo on it I'll bet it's not a Poison Spyder version. There are a LOT of knockoffs made.

POISON SPIDER isnt a thing anymore. they have been out of business for a while now. ive been looking for some of their parts for a while now.

I've got a V-8 under my hood so I added extra vents when I did mine.

You drill the corners first.

I have a air nibbler which cut about 80% of the hood then the rest I did with a body saw.

Then I painted the edges of all the cuts. And installed the hood vent.

and yes @NashvilleTJ TJs are pretty used and appreciated in Italy, even if sometimes too wide for our spaces (my fenders are pretty damaged by that).

Anyway, back to the hood grille, poison in Italy cannot be found, nor in france.
I've heard about Genright, but no clue if it is same quality. Don't wanna buy something low quality that will give more problems than pleasure.
Also, i do find more 97-02, but my hood is 03 version with central windshield. will find smtg!

I run the Genright hood louver - and a bunch of other Genright stuff. Their quality is very good in my experience.

Guess I’ll drop my louver story here.

At one time I had an issue with the under hood temps being too much for the engine in the middle of the Arizona heat. Couldn’t help but hit some trails in the middle of summer. I had 2 options. 1 would be to address the fuel issues I was having or 2 was to take the longest route possible and start with hood vents. I picked the more difficult route as that is my style.
I did a good amount of research and I could only find one fella who did a little research and checked under hood temps and pressures. That is were the photo below came from. Cannot find his write up anywhere anymore but it did give details on the location of the vent placement that I followed.

This was posted on another Jeep forum and is all that remains of the original post and I think the original poster removed his web site. The guy that did the research used ZJ Louvers.
Any how, I installed the vents below and while I like how they look I don’t know that they serve any purpose and I still had an issue with my fuel. Once I replaced my cracked injectors everything has been good.
