OK 1st off i know only what I've read on the website so if you want additional information please contact the vendor. I'm just posting this here since many have wished for a overdrive automatic but the 42RLE was not an option due to wiring issues on older rigs. So if this does everything the website says this might be a great option for those wanting to put a O/D transmission into your 02 or older TJ.

I may use this once I switch over to a haltech standalone ecu (I'm talking years from now....) I've always worried about not being able to run a standalone ecu cause there's was no controllers for the 42rle.....But this changes everything for me then😁
But who knows I most likely will end up with a manual with the power I plan to run.

This is what I really want!
There's already a bellhousing for this trans.....all I'd need is a different ecu and a bunch of other stuff
I don't see myself spending 4k plus for a damn 42rle.....just sayin....can't clutch dump an auto 😉

Price is quite reasonable, who’s going to be the first to try it?

You'd probably need a 3 inch skid plate drop to run that overpriced trans. I think it would be cool to have an nv4500 or similar, they just don't fit well

It's basically an nv4500 but it's an aluminum housing rather than iron, they share the same bolt pattern as well for those looking to replace their old nv4500

The 538 gears in mine are a lot of fun right up until OD.

I think the final solution to 42RLE OD for me will be 6.20 Gearworks diffs. That should make the OD bearable.

I hate that I'm at 5.13, that jump is so small. I figure whenever my Rubi lockers die I'll make that jump with whatever lockers I swap in though.
Really don't understand why someone would remove a great 3 speed auto and put in a 42RLE. You would need deep gearing to make it worthwhile.

I was going to ask this as well, as far as I know the 32rh is a much more pleasant auto.

The supercharger helped a lot. At this point, all I would change are 589 gears and better shift points. But the gears are risky and expensive. And no one knows anything about this controller. Plus it looks like it fell out of 1993 Best Buy.

The shift points at least could be handled with HP tuners from what I’ve seen. That’s my plan if the 5.13s aren’t enough for the tires I end up running.

This is true for the 03-04 stand alone TCM?

Supercharger would help for sure. It would be so nice to cruise at highway speeds on hills. Someday.
