Replaced my cracked OE one with this and it looks great.

Stops this from happening
The stock plastic one broke off so now I get an annoying squeak when I'm on bumpy roads...and my paint rubbed off..... aestheticly, that's the least of my concerns

I may get this since its bugging me enough to where I just need a skid to stop the squeak and the further rubbing

What problem does this solve?

The '01 that I purchased did not come with that item.
I found the part in the Jeep Parts Catalog, but it is no longer available.
I cut a 1/16" piece of plastic (approximately those dimensions) from a black vitamin bottle and used 3M "414" Extreme double sided tape for mounting.
This part has been firmly attached for almost 4 years.

BTW: to these wrap around the latch lip to keep from ripping the stainless off if it catches the latch?
