This was my solution to the skinny bar that I think were Bestop cloth doors originally. When I found these someone had removed the cloth and welded a steel door to them. If you follow the link you can see how I welded on an arm rest so it turned out to be a pretty nice trail door. Just an idea since half doors are so difficult to find.

Those turned out really well, does the armrest ever get too hot in the sun? I think the TJ doors have plastic up there so they don't get too bad.

Originally I was really worried they’d be too hot, so I ordered wheelchair and office chair arms trying to find a good fit/match. The idea stemmed from the Genright trail door armrests. I found some that would have worked pretty well, but I reasoned that black armrests would be hotter than the red steel. I think I went the right way. They do get pretty warm in the sun, but once you’re driving they seem to be fine. It hasn’t been an issue.

I did see those! I think you made the right call, those probably would've looked kinda gooby. Making something custom probably would've been the way to go but yeah probably not worth it, the factory ones are hard too. Heck the factory console is hard.

They pretty much look factory in the pics.. Unless you already knew what the hinges and door handles look like on the factory ones you probably would never think they were just the sheet metal with a elbow shelf.

Plain and simple. I had planned to get the Savvy trail doors until these popped up on marketplace. Thought I’d give it a go. They turned out pretty good. They’re not perfect but I absolutely love them. Jeff made me some custom bags too. I’m bringing them to Moab in May. 🙂

As an aside, I don’t think another set of Savvy trail doors was ever made. 🙁 Guess I could ask Gerald. Maybe I’d get a note!

Oh man! Yeah that will be cool to see. I had never seen those PRP bags you linked they look nice too. I bet his/yours are cooler.

Hahaha, classic!! Funny, I was actually looking through my build thread earlier today and noticed I said I signed up for the waiting list for savvy sliders... In March 2022. Never got that email.

It’s a cool deal that @Fluxor is fabbing fabtastical stuff to fill the Savvy void. Im anxious to see the next rear bumper options and want to put my .02c in for the midarm sometime in the future.

Agree, we're lucky! I've got his website bookmarked for when I decide to get armor, hopefully soonish now that I'm back to work on the Jeep.

One of the guys I get alot of MR2 parts started off similar to him (it seems), making and selling parts after his day job. They seem to have a similar eye for quality... And eventually he was able to quit his day job, do the "go-fast" parts fulltime, and pick up some cool stuff like a CNC machine in the last few years. Idk his plans but maybe we'll get lucky lol

I had to buy one of these,the set I bought one was too rusty.but if you buy the key part doors you will never find all the internal parts to make em work.

FWIW, there is an eBay seller who is five minutes away from home and has literally dozens of doors, door cards and all the rods, locks, screws and such. There are no junk yards to roam around here so if you can't find parts new, need it NOW or want to stay period correct he's the guy. And he knows it based on how much he charges for stuff. He ships everything as well.

I have been reluctant to post what I paid for the half doors I found at a salvage yard nearby. They had a '97 Flame Red TJ, which means that the paint is close enough but the door cards don't match.

Here goes... $350, picked up last spring. With a key. Oh, and they came with sliding glass uppers in about 70% condition, with some peeling fabric but totally intact. I replaced the weatherstripping, and I might get around to dyeing the cards this summer.

I believe you can replace the fabric on those if the slider and frame are still good. Might be manufacturer-dependent.

Not sure if this will happen, but I have strongly considered doing the work to reproduce half and full cards for the TJ's in fiberglass. Maybe not exact copies (the texture is not so easy to replicate).

oh wow.. thats beyond what id make LOL. id be going old school like old vw bugs kinda style with an arm rest.

Dammit now I see a set in my color with door cards that match my interior its only 900 and of course I dont have the funds right now because other hobbies needed cash flow plus getting the jeep ready for KOH in 2 weeks

If the doors are the right everything,You almost have to make it happen and recover later?
