Should there be some trim or seal on the top of my tailgate?

The factory hardtops did not come with a seal along the tailgate lip.
PO had installed some type of pinch-lock seal on ours and I spent a long time trying to find a part # to replace it when it fell apart.
After an exhaustive search I finally posted a pic and learned the facts.

Mount a little rubber stopper to the back side of your spare tire about 2 inches from the glass. That will prevent anyone's hands from going through the opening
some members have installed a length of bulb seal such as this:

The bar and black clips on outside of the tailgate are to clip your soft top/bikini top. I remove them when I have hard top on (4 screws total). Gives a better seal and gets stuff out of the way getting in and out of cargo area
New bottom window rubber seals are available at many sources. I purchased a new one that I am not using as my newly installed back glass came with the seal already installed.
They attach to the bottom plastic strip on the glass with 3M tape.

First, remove the soft top bar.
Also, depending on your brackets, you may have to remove those too.
After that, it's either the window (lower) seal or the tailgate's not closing properly.
