Colorado Krew Hangout

Ran RedCone yesterday, colors are going crazy up high. Keystone area everything was full bloom, a little lower was just starting to change. This weather this weekend is going to knock the leaves off the stuff up top

That corner guard looks good!! 😬

I ended up needing to be at work yesterday afternoon so we didn’t go as far as Schofield like we had planned, stayed closer to home and went over to Twin Cone to check out the colors, definitely leaf peeping time up here!

Did you paint the corner armor yourself?

I've got an Inca Gold jeep and dont want to lose that much of the awesome color to Aluminum gray

I did, except the front fenders, they were powder coated. I had a powder coat company “color match” off the factory tailgate hinge that I mailed them…didn’t turn out to be a color match. They sent me 3 different iterations of powder trying to get a match, never worked out and they ended up refunding my money back.

I ended up going through www.automotivetouchup.com and bought a few cans of spray paint in the oem Electric Lime Green, scuffed/sanded the corners and rock sliders myself with a DA orbital and sprayed them in the garage, turned out better than I was expecting. Not as “smooth/glossy” as the original paint but a very good color match. I’m sure I could wet sand/clear coat them and they’d get even better.

Still need to pull the front fenders off, scuff them up and then spray with the same paint to get them to match better.

Does anyone have through the wheel/axle tie down straps I could borrow for the week? I’m flying in to Denver tomorrow morning and am going to put the LJ on a uhaul trailer and going to the San Juans. I ordered Macs tie downs but they haven’t arrived!

I'm using mine this weekend, but Murdochs has the flat hook type for <$50. They work well with a uhaul trailer and going over the tire.

Do you mean over the tire tread or through a wheel spoke? I don’t have much experience with car hauling. Did the same thing 3 years ago with straps through each wheel.

Over the tire tread. I've hauled mine this way multiple times and it doesn't move. The flat hooks hook to the ratchet mount up front and the bar immediately behind the tire

Has anyone been out lately? Looking up towards the mountains from Denver looks like most areas are probably snowed in? Lower part of Red Elephant or Ironclads still maybe? Slaughterhouse?

Slaughterhouse ain't worth the drive. I think the season is done for the fun stuff.

SH is close enough for me... day in the mountains at least. Feel the same about the Gulches but thats a little further haul. You snowed in up your way? Chinaman done for the season? Prior to the last storm everything was dry as a bone. Think we're getting more this week

I'm in Parker, so no, not snowed in but we did get 32" last storm. Everything was clear up until a could of weeks ago. I would think this last storm shut it down. Once that snow falls, the shady areas are done for.

ahh Thought you were up in BV for some reason.

I'm done for the year.

I've got kitchen cabinets on my to-do list that I'm about 50% done with. Need to finish those then going to try and start looking at our camper for a rebuild, along with the 32rh.
