Savvy vs Novak 241 shifter cable

I need one of these shifters if I plan to add body lift right? What makes certain shifters specific to the 03-06 Rubicon models?

Not specifically because of a body lift. A cable shifter is useful as part of raising the belly skid which very often benefits from a body lift to allow shoving the transmission and transfer case higher up into the body.

The lever arm off the transfer case points different directions depending on if it is a 231 or a 241. Each requires a different cable routing compared to the other.

JJVW beat us to it! I'll add that adjusting to get the shifter working well without binding after a body lift is much easier with the cable style shifter over a direct linkage style.

On the Rubicon's, they have the 241OR which has different cable routing/lever arm direction compared to the 231 or 242.

Thank you, another interesting option I may research. I got under my jeep and it seems that the previous owner has replaced the factory linkage with their own custom linkage. I haven't seen a product that looks similar yet. I'll probably order the cable shifter to swap in so I dont have to further jerry rig it.

This is how the linkage looks with the t-case in 4wd. Pretty interesting. Running 3.5 inches of coil lift, no case drop, 5-6 inch rear stretch.
