I realised today that full cold on my HVAC isn’t actually cold - it’s just a little warm. NB I don’t have aircon (not many UK spec TJs have it, why bother when the roof comes off?)

The heat selector knob feels quite easy to turn - maybe too much so. Full hot is just fine, though.

Is this normal or is there a problem developing?

How would it be cold if you don't have AC

You could be right, the 'cold' air intake isn’t that far from the engine!

That air is going into the engine not your HVAC haha

Well, it can be warmer than the outside air, and it was…

Yeah that's just heat from the engine I think. I've never had a no-AC car put out air that wasn't hotter than ambient

We yanks call it AC.
Air Con was a movie with Nicholas Cage 😉

That was Con-Air.

Another possible cause is the foam gasket around the diverter flaps has failed and air is passing through. Turn the fan on high, flip the diverter lever on the dash back and forth, look for little brown foam pieces that get blown out.

If you don't have A/C it isn't going to be cold unless it's freezing outside.

Pop the Knob off the panel to make sure it's not cracked on the backside. They do that a lot..
