Utah Moab 2024 JuneFest 9th-15th

Why?? You going to cook something none of us have ever heard of before?.

That’s Mrs Apps department however I did convince a guy in the Czech Republic that the beef tongue we were eating was actually Yak cock.

We’ve has escargot with Basket in Moab too.

Isn’t that the one with a zoo or something

Run down mom and pop place with tigers in cages. Damn the Creole cooking was the best. 10 miles west of Baton Rouge, LA. Passed it up for years. After my first time getting food there, never passed it up again.

Louisiana has the best food in the world.

It’s not really on our list of places to go again. Could walk in and grab a drink and enjoy the view but their food has never been worth the price.

Agreed lol. I'd be content never going back. I would if someone really wanted to but. It really isn't worth it

Had caviar too there. Got to make use of your opportunities whenever you can.

Met a guy in the base snackbar who was a WWII veteran and lived in Scotland. Told me if I wanted to come visit he'd give me a place to stay for as long as I'd like. I had a Triumph Spitfire at the time so I took the ferry over to and spent two weeks visiting.

The one place I never made it to that I always wanted was Norway.

Norway is beautiful but their food isn’t spectacular.

Anyone flat towing their TJ? Concerned with breakage, making it not towable?
Anyone double behind a 5th wheel? I double with SxS or ATVs.
I know the hitch needs extra beef for 4000+ lb. The LJR is all setup for it.
Sure would simply my situation.

I’ll be flat towing this year.

If something makes it not towable then I’ll have to get it towable. Wouldn’t be the first time I left a vehicle in Moab and went home though.

..and I'm only 8 hours away.
What's it cost to park it while you arrange pickup?

it was my truck that stayed there for a month. They didn’t charge me to park it but they did charge me to install a new to me transmission in it. Flew back out and drove it back once fixed.

That’s the problem with realizing your tow vehicle lost its transmission when everything is loaded up and you are just ready to pull out of the campground on the final minute of the last day.

Unless I pull driveshafts I can't flat tow mine. It's how I burned up two STaK's t-cases. But honestly what are the chances that you'll break something making it impossible to tow it home? And if something was to happen rent a U-haul trailer and haul it home.

I live in a state where towing something behind your 5th isn't allowed so it's not an option. But honestly even if it was I wouldn't do it.

I'd still have the chore of getting the 5th wheel and the trailered Jeep home. I have a car trailer so would likely round-trip it to recover broken rig

There are definitely 2 schools of thought on the topic. All the states I travel allow it (Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana). SxS and trailer adds 2000# and I keep my tongue weight at 300# - 10 - 15% (www.weigh-safe.com). It really is a piece of cake as long as you're careful where you pull in or park.
Flat towing adds the weight of the toad but very little tongue weight. All good until it isn't I guess.

You asked about flat towing prior to mentioning towing it behind your 5th... I never really was 100% comfortable flat towing it but I was resisting buying a trailer. After I smoked the t-case I didn't have a choice.

I pulled doubles & triples when I was a OTR driver so I honestly have no desire to with my RV. But for a lighter load like a SXS or ATV or golf cart type load I can see the logic. But for a heavier vehicle like your LJ or a TJ I'd have to pass on the idea.
