California NorCal Jeep adventures!

I feel you there. We have a 1 month away from 16 daughter that has the Jeep bug bad. I’ve started keeping my eye open for a fixer upper starter for her.
I drug an old project out of the weeds to have a gas friendly commuter for more Jeep money. It’s hard to go from a lifted Jeep to a lowered import that fits under my Jeep 😂

She is 16 now, since I got the LJ she gets to drive the JKUR (HardRock), which is the nicest Jeep we own. It’s a 2015, 33K miles, 2.5” lift (needs different tires) heated leather seats etc, its top of line for a 2015, but of course she thinks the LJR is special so wants to steal it all the time. Speaking of the LJ the suspension kit is out for delivery today, ooh yahoo 😁! I plan on running over to J&W wreckers at lunch and getting some rock sliders for it too.

I haven’t heard of the HardRock. I’ll have to look that up.
Nice! What suspense did you go with? Since your so close, if you ever need any help or tool loan, don’t hesitate to ask. I have a pretty set up shop for fab work. My crown jewels are my 70 amp plasma cutter and welders for steel and aluminum. The only thing I don’t have anymore is a lift. I’ve been a tech my whole life, so I have tools for tools 😂

Pretty quiet over here. Anyone got plans for a run this month? Xmas tree run maybe? Snow? Hello, McFly!

We are heading up the M-2 tomorrow for our Christmas tree
We went up last weekend to scout things and found some new trails and camp sites I hadn’t been to before.
Last weekend was weird, cold as shit, any standing water was frozen, AND freaking dusty at the same time.
Tomorrow should be fun with the little rain we are getting

The HR was a model with a few extras over the Rubicon, the vented hood, two tow hooks in rear, the rock rails are a little different just little things. Similar to the Recon edition.

I ended up going with a BDS 3” lift, got new front adjustable LCA, and front and rear adjustable track bars. Then I may do a TT, I think that will be a good setup for what I do. I’ll get 33” for it.

Thanks for the offer, may need to take you up on it some day. I’ve got an old Lincoln wire feed welder, but that’s about it. Lots of tools for different thing. Latest largest pick is probably the 20 ton press, worked great when I redid the rear axle bearing on the wife’s JKU. Not a mechanic, but worked on semi-trailers for about 3 1/2 years, that’s were I got a lot of my tools. Just try and do a lot on my own. Already installed three 2.5” lifts on the JK‘s

Sounds like our builds are pretty similar. We’ll have to compare notes 😂

I went with the 12 ton press cause I new it would be enough for doing everything I’d do. Then regretted not getting the 20 when I saw swags metal brake that’s built to go on that press. 😞

I will not be able to hit any trail days anytime soon. I was involved in a multi car accident last night, the jeep seems to be mostly ok but I have to check it out today as it was too dark last night. At first glance my front grill is a little best I cracked a headlight and radiator is leaking. Im mainly thinking what radiator im going to use. I wanted a mishimoto radiator but that idea was shot down. Any recommendations?

Against popular opinion ive been running the napa special for 6 years without issue. Mine cracked a while ago and I replaced it with what the shop had in stock.

Stick with a stock radiator, preferably a Mopar one if you can find one. Sorry about your accident. That sucks.

I will check the frame when I get home today, also if anyone has a lead on a radiator for manual trans that would be greatly appreciated.

I hope you’re ok. If not a speedy recovery.
I couldn’t find a mopar, so I went with a denso. It’s the same style radiator, and denso, although not as popular for domestic vehicles, has never let me down on quality for over 25 years in the business.

You can run an auto radiator. No coolant comes out the tranny line fittings. You don’t even need to put plugs in them like most people do.
