My wife and I hosted our Historical Automobile Society of Canada region's annual inspection meet today (May 7). Our club welcomes 20+ year old original or special vehicles. The wide range makes for radical contrasts. Today we checked out everything from this 1921 Ford Model T speedster to a 1988 V12 Ferrari !

It's always interesting to find a model of your favorite vehicle, right down to color. I've owned my '78 GMC Caballero since new and about forty years ago, I encountered it's twin, minus topper, on the freeway. The other guy did a double take when I pulled alongside and sounded my horn. I haven't seen another one since, until last week. I found a 1/64 scale diecast model of a '78 Caballero Laredo two tone tan with the matching topper ! Of course, I just had to have it.

'Bluebird' with her bodywork removed. The car was powered by a Rolls-Royce 'R' supercharged V-12. This engine was developed by RR specifically for racing, and would go on to set speed records on land, air, and sea. The 'R' engine design itself would later be refined into the Merlin V-12 during WWII.

I’ve always thought a period camper setup would be cool and useful at show events. I'd set up a small one like this with a bathroom, fridge, sink and seating area to hang out in. No need to cook or sleep.

Damn, that GMC is flippin' gorgeous!

Saw this at the gas station yesterday.

There's something about original vehicles of that vintage that makes me want one, but not bad enough to go buy one. If I had a need for something like a golf cart, I think I'd just buy an old Ford truck like that.

A few things I find interesting about early Ford engines; 1) they operated with "splash lubrication" and had no dedicated oil system, 2) tightening of engine bearings was a maintenance item  , 3) babbitt bearings were/are cast in place.
