Well, how bout that!!

Get the air pumps too! Those axles are good, but they only require 5 psi...much more than that, you'll blow the bladders, so using the stock pumps is best. You can still get new replacements, but they are about 200 bucks each!

Sounds like you got a good deal there. A complete set of Rubicon axles in good condition goes for quite a bit!

Well... if they are from a JK, then yes, they are electrically actuated. How ever, JK axles will not bolt into a TJ. TJ Rubicon axles use air pumps...I guarantee it. I can take a picture of mine if your curious.

Can they fit with a little modification? We talked about so many different ones I may be getting mixed up, but I DO remember distinctly that I'm getting locked 44s front and rear. I'm happy!!

That is not just a little modification.
But if you have the shop, it can be done.
I compared mine to the JK buddies, it can be done if you are good in fab-shop.
If my memory serves me right, the JK are also wider in terms of all the suspension locations.

Putting JK axles into a TJ is not a trival job. You basically have to cut all the JK suspension mounting locations off, and reweld TJ brackets back on. IIRC, the bracket kits are kinda spendy too.

Oh yeah, you need new wheels. JK's run a 5 x 5 bolt pattern and TJ's are 5. x 4.5. Also, JK brakes are a larger Diameter so, your 15" wheels won't clear. I looked into this pretty extensively when I was trying to decide if I should get a Sport Model TJ or go for a Rubicon....The work and expense was greater than just ponying up for the Rubicon up front.

So, like I said, if you're getting TJ axles, that's GREAT! Try to get the two air pumps. Those will be easy to install. If the Dude is trading you JK axles, you may need to re-negotiate.

That is not a little mod my friend.... It's extensive! The suspension and weldment alignments are the "killers" after you are said and done. You have to have a shop for all the weldments, or already worked on jeeps with fab-shop experience.

Just wondering why you want to dive into that big of a job, maybe you are just bored and want to be challenged?
Either way, good luck my friend :) take a lot of photos so we will follow your build.

No, if it's JK axles the deal is off. Like I said above, we talked about so many Jeeps it may be from a TJ. No deal signed yet.

Technically, aren't Rubi lockers air over electric? You need to wire 12 volts to operate the pumps. An E-locker is a truly electric locker.

Semantics. All air lockers would need electricity to power the air pumps. The only selectable locker not needing electricity would be the cable-actuated OX.
