Can't find the correct blower motor switch for my 97 TJ?

The part came in and it's definitely the same one that had melted and is 4 speeds. It fits flush with the dash and switch.

The weird thing is when I line it up on the correct screws the switch is aligned way off.

Other folks here chime in...my thought is that the switch needs to be rotated. I just replaced an HVAC actuator switch in my son's 05. When I went to install the new one and align it with the old screw holes, the switch wasn't in the correct position. I took a flathead and gently rotated the switch so that it was in the correct position to install.

That will probably fix it. I was short on time so left it as is for now and I will get back at it soon. I still need to find an electrician that will fix the melted harness that has been difficult to find.

Sounds good. Keep us updated on how it goes. This is the way that we all learn on this forum.

Can we get an update on this part? Thanks.

Finally had it installed last week. The part was correct and works but unfortunately I still have only two speeds. There could be another short on the plug that is under the passenger side dash. Since it is speeds 2 and 3 that work I am pretty comfortable and haven't checked yet.

I tried the link on your post but it didn’t help. Do you have a part number?

If we can track down a wiring diagram for these early cars, I would be more than willing to rewire to just have high and low if I knew the right wires for each.

So i recently bought a 97 TJ - the only thing that wasn't working was the blower fan which only worked on 1 speed. I immediately suspected the blower motor resistor was out and it was so i replaced it and the harness that plugs into it. I was very careful to mark the order of the wires from the old harness and double checked to make sure i had it correct, soldered the connections and closed it up. Still didn't work - i did get more speeds but they were out of sequence. So i suspected the switch was bad. I got one from NAPA - it was only a 3 speed switch, ordered one from JC Whitney and it was a 3 speed switch. Ordered one from Quadratech after seeing their description and Q&A - which assures that it's a 4 speed switch, got it today and it's a 3 speed switch as well. Anyone got any insight or experience with this problem? I need a 4 speed switch - my TJ does have factory air conditioning.

Solved! I had the same issue. INDAK switch with the odd shaped riveted metal bracket. PART # 6L754 call Mr. Cobb he has been with INDAK for 49 years. Was on the Jeep team. Super nice and helpful. Ordered and received in 5 days standard mail. 847-902-9615 tell him Mr. Bieber sent you. He approved me posting information. He did ask me to mail back at me cost the old one so he can re build it for the next Jeespster, which I did. It will have a extra spade as the original part number was 6P754, my pluh had a spot that was blank and fit without issue on to the original plug.
