So I went and bought some JL Audio tweeters from an audio store and I installed them (sliced them with the lower dash speakers and mounted them on top of the dash) and they sounded great for a few mins till ALL my audio shut off.
The headunit was still on and it showed that music was playing but nothing Is coming from the speakers no matter what I do. I check the fuse and it was still good.

any ideas what I should do?

Two things come to mind....
The polarity (+/+ and -/-) of the tweeter to speaker and are the Impedance of the speakers and tweeters the same ?

I checked before and I have them on the right ones

I'm not sure, the guy at the audio store said there meant to just be wired to the lower speakers

Could this be a problem even when they worked for maybe 5 mins before stoping, also btw all the audio stopped not just the new tweeters

I have always been advised to keep the speaker impedance the same and ensure that the speakers are the radio's recommended impedance.

All I can think of is the reduced speaker impedance the amplifier would see after wiring the tweeters in parallel to the other speakers. In theory that could cause the amplifier to overheat.

When wiring speakers in parallel with each other, the impedance is reduced. Wiring two 4 Ohm impedance, for example, speakers in parallel with each other presents the amplifier with a 2 Ohm impedance. That 2 Ohm impedance WILL draw more power out of the amplifier/require more current than it may be up to if it's not rated for 2 ohm speaker loads. Especially if the amplifier is configured to be connected to a pair of 8 ohm speakers.

A 2 Ohm load presented to an amplifier set up/designed for 8 Ohm speakers could cause a problem. Some amplifiers have a jumper or different connect points to match the expected speaker load.

Have you tried removing all power to the radio or amplifier and let things reset, then tried playing it into just the original pair of speakers?

By the way all this is strictly theoretical, I'd expect most good quality amplifiers to be a little more rugged than would be susceptible to this problem.

That's a good reminder, but so far I don't think we know anything about the quality of the amplifier. From a different thread, I think the OP is running everything off of a fairly basic head unit. Is that right @thekidwithquestions?

How did you splice the new wires in... cut/strip/twist? You could have crossed the pos and neg wires, and the Amp could have blown. Try undoing what you did, and see if it comes back to life.

Um guys I pulled of one of the lower dash speaker panels and as I was checking it I poked a wire and the whole thing started working again.....

like I don't know how else to put it thats literally what happened, thanks anyway

Look to see where that wire goes, and fix the connection it has...
