Would you sell your hard top?

Anybody don't want their hardtop I'll store it for you for free...

Funny story when I was shopping for a TJ I wanted one with a hardtop and full doors among other things. Cruise control, automatic and of all things NOT red. I ended up with the complete opposite a red TJ with soft top half doors no cruise control but it is automatic. And I LOVE the soft top and half doors. Once I got the hang of operating the top it's a piece of cake. The half doors just pull on and off with zero effort and fit behind the back seat. Here in AZ I'm glad I don't have to mess with taking the hard top off as often as I utilize the soft top.

However, that said, I still want a hard top and full doors lol.
 
All depends. How is the Jeep used? Parked? Stored? Long-term plans?

Here in hot and humid Texas air conditioning works great, with a hardtop.
Hardtops are so quiet compared to flapping, roaring soft tops at highway speeds.

We had a rare blizzard and freezing temps recently.
Was able to get around comfortably snug as a bug with my hardtop.
(Chose not to Bruce Springsteen it in a naked jeep in the snow.)

The top can always be sold later and will only increase in value
as hardtops get damaged and disappear.

Any vehicle can be broken into. When I had a convertible
I deliberately left it unlocked so no one would be tempted to cut the top.
A hardtop provides visual and physical barriers
that may move miscreants to an easier target.
Very stressful leaving a rifle under a jacket in a naked jeep
while ducking into a store for more beer.

My grandson rolled his lifted JK onto the driver side on the Interstate
and walked away without a scratch. It had a hardtop. Just saying.

Over a Hundred yesterday but we were nice and cool with AC blowing popsicles after a fresh recharge.

Every time I go anywhere is a dusty jaunt down the dusty dirt road to the pavement.

The hardtop keeps the dust on the outside not in every nook and cranny of the interior.

Cool in the summer, warm in the winter, I will never put the factory soft top on.

understand the east texas humidity for sure.
 
I'm in the same boat with my hard top. It's sitting in my garage taking up wayy too much space. I'm considering selling mine, too. Not sure if I should bother fixing it first. I guess it'd be better to wait til winter anyways.

The thing that's holding me back is camping. Without the roof rack on the hard top it's gonna be real difficult to pack all my shit in there, even without the passenger seat. If I want to go with anyone else it's just not gonna be possible. So if I sell the hard top I'll need to start working on a offroad trailer and somewhere to store it... which is a better solution than the roofrack but complicates things

How much junk do you pack?! We camped out of our TJ for 2 weeks for the TJ Fest trip. Everything fit in a cooler and 2 totes which included spare fluids and tools.

someone on here yesterday had a roof rack for a topless jeep. looked like a nice setup.

Too much, apparently. Dog, tent, chair, cooler, water jug, then two of these, one with tools and such cos I'm normally alone and another with my loose camping crap (clothes, dishes, etc). Then also firewood sometimes. Maybe my gear is my problem... I do have a backpacking backpack maybe I should see if I can get my crap into there

We have 2 totes like that and an equally sized cooler. The totes and cooler make for good chairs, so that's one less thing to pack.

have no clue. looked like it attached to the so called roll bar. looked like two bars mounted, one across the front other across the rear with the rack/basket attached to them. it’s nothing i’d need/use but, it looked good and looked like a quality built setup. will look to see if i can find it.

I am a princess, I need to be able to lean back! Now I'm really thinking about it though, if I could get all my 'loose' camping crap and clothes into a backpack and strap it to the rollbar that would free up some space... And I could probably cut out some of the tools/repair stuff. Makes me a little nervous since I'm often alone.

Although I'm still not fitting a second person in there unless most of the back area is for dog, meaning roof rack or trailer. Or they can just drive themselves to the camp site lol

That would be cool. I'm having a hard time imagining how that would work. My soft top is stretched so tightly across the roll bars I can't imagine how it would stay together if you put holes in it

most all of my camping gear is for backpackers. ultra light weight and small. perfect for motorcycle camping.

Yeah unfortunately not. Cool idea though!

Unfortunately I typically avoid the ultralight and ultraexpensive backpacking gear. I don't backpack so my stuff is all big and heavy lol. Guess that's part of my problem

I sold mine and don't miss it one bit!!!! Trektop NX winter with the windows in and summer with them out!!!!!!!

Biggest pet peeve with my factory bestop is the flapping on the side window by my ear. Sometimes I'll bend it back so it doesn't flap at 60 to 70mph but then after awhile it just goes back to normal flapping. My AC blows ice cold. I only keep it on the lowest fan setting coldest temp and sometimes that's too much.
