Hey all,
Bit of a long shot, but I have been trying to look for a parts sheet/specs reference sheet for a G2 Core 44 front axle, ie: what inner and outer seals it uses, pinon shaft dia., etc. I've found this info for the JK Core 44, but nothing for the TJ/XJ part numbers. I know it's not a very popular brand or crate axle here, but hopefully I'm not the first person to look for this. I'm not getting much luck from support at G2, 4WP (shocker, I know) or Googling. I've tried searching this forum but "g2" and "44" are excluded in results, and Google search modifiers for this site or others aren't turning too much up with specifics, just folks selling their rigs or buying axles.

I'd assume outside of the new-gen case and R&P, it's all TJ Dana 44, although the JK axle uses the same sized axle tubes and uses Dana 60 seals(?). Wanting to double-check before I buy parts that won't work.

The Core 44 uses the larger JK Ring & pinion.

Thanks for the quick response, but The G/2C4JMFS456AP5 mentioned in that post is the JK spec axle I found at [that other forum] in the JK Tech section. Is the TJ spec axle the same, with slightly different mounts/perches? I'm aware the R&P and case are the next gen JK size, but between there and the C-ends is where I'm foggy with the TJ version

Are you inquiring about the front axle?
Yes, the front. I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same a the JK but cut down, but haven't found anything confirming that. I think the one I have is C4TSFS538AC0

EDIT: I realize I was looking through your build thread earlier. If those specs are what you've referenced in the past, then I bet they'd work for me

I stole that part ref from the other forum a while back to get axle seals just in case so I hope it's right. I haven't had any problems with my core 44s

Well, that's good news! I picked up the axle from a mutual friend and was going to rebuild what I could before putting it on. Thanks for the help, I don't have enough posts for the like button yet, so let it be known I'm mentally clicking that button.

If G2 or 4WP gets back to me with conflicting info, I'll let you know, otherwise I'll proceed as advised. It makes sense that they're the same, since almost everything else is. Appreciate the help

That's the same axle assembly I run..

Yes. Currie offers a seal that will work. But I wanted to find a seal that was available at my local parts store. I used the inside diameter of the stock seal and the outside diameter of the G2 housing bore. Looked it up in my master seal book at work. Came up with the part number and entered that into my local auto parts stores web site. The first application that matched was for a 78' F150, so that's what I purchased.

Good to know, You get extra credit for doing it old school 😉

I pulled out my shovel and dug this one up. I have the G2 core 44 front axle, cant find much online about it. I took my jeep to OK4wd to have the front axle seals and my pinion seal replaced. $1200 worth of work. They told me something about a ford seal, likely they were full of shit looking stuff up and just found this thread. Does that seal actually work? They installed it in mine and I drive it home, its pouring gear oil out the driver side. I call them they told me to bring it back. Bring back, they open it up and tell me my axle is bent. Now, i informed them that it was in a collision prior to giving it to them for work, i said if you find anything majorly wrong in there to let me know. Charged me another $650 in labor to put it back together so i can drive the mess home. They also told me that the new seal was "smaller" that the old seal which might be why it leaked alot more and faster. Sounds like alot of BS, like its the wrong one.

Now, some history. The axle had issues with leaky seals the day i bought it and installed it in the jeep. I had the pinion seal replaced 2 months into owning it because it leaked bad and G2 wanted nothing to do with it. Also had issues with the diff cover leaking. Redid that and fixed that problem. The front driver side axle seal didnt start to leaking until this spring. Very small leak, but a leak non the less. This was a year and a half after my collision. The jeep was repaired after the collision, front end aligned and drove perfectly fine otherwise. After all this, i seem to believe that whatever they used was not the right part. I cannot see why it could have failed so quickly otherwise. Or could this axle just be a pile of dirt?
