Same options as a Sport, but add body color painted fender flares that are wider, special Sahara seats, and they only were offered in certain paint colors.

Besides the color matched fender flares, some additional plastic trim pieces, different seat covers, 3.73 gears, all with the 4.0L and some Sahara stickers, there is no difference between the Sahara and other packages (except Rubicon). And no, the Dana 44 rear is NOT standard in the Sahara.

* Body colored fender flares that are 1" wider than standard TJ flares
* Body color rocker sills
* Optional Dana 44 rear axle
* 16" wheels for 2000-2004 models
* 30" tires
* Full steel doors
* Unique seats and interior trim
* Sahara decals

Anyone know what those 16" wheels were? I don't remember ever seeing that detail...

Since I’ve owned my Rubicon I have found tons of clean rubicons with average or below average miles for the year. Rubicon with 4.10 gears stock can’t be beat.

I thought that 'X' might stand for 'extreme' but that's a guess out of left field On my part, still in my first year contract as a TJ rookie

I have a basically maxed out 2001 Sahara. It came stock with 15 inch canyon wheels. I'm not sure what the 16" wheels were. The gambler wheels were 15" as well.

The X was a marketing ploy to move the slow selling BASE model with zero options. And clear up some of the BASE parts in the warehouse. Nuthing wrong with that, the BASE Wrangler, ie X, is still a great all around toy.

No! LOL. But the X model is arguably one of the best to build into an Xtreme TJ, just because the entry price is lower and you'd be replacing everything anyway. A Rubicon is a great start if you're going to 33's. Beyond that you are wasting a lot of money on a Rubicon sticker. My .02 c

Have to agree. Add lockers to any TJ with the big wheel option which gives you a Dana 44 rear and 3.73 ratios.... and you've got a great off roader, for way less money than a Rubi.

The 4:1RockBox is a real pain any where except crawling up a waterfall. I much prefer the 2.72 reduction every other TJ has.

Our Australian cousins have a beer called XXXX (pronounced 4-ex) its been said its because they cant spell the word beer lol
