Daughter at school last night, calls and her 01 Sport won't start. I went up to bail her out. After checking several things, still couldn't get it to make a noise. After calling in for a tow, I decided to check things out again and turns out it was the shifter. I knew I was missing something, I'm too used to column shift. I know it's likely the neutral safety, but I don't know if this is going to be ongoing until replaced or if she just didn't fully put in park.

Any input?

The stuff I read seems to point more at the wire harness than the switch. I look at when she's home and see how everything looks. I'm guessing just buy a new one and throw it in?

If it was anyone other than a teenager I'd jumper out the switch.

Switches are cheap enough...easy fix on the side of the transmission.

This is it correct? Sorry even with flash didn't come out very bright. Right above starter?

Anyone know socket size? Save me a min.

Might be. I've got a 97 with a manual.

The factory service manuals are available for download in the resources section and it'll have a procedure to test the switch and how to replace.
