Maple for the win. Right now I’m sourcing an 8’ x 4’ piece of 2” maple for a bench I’m currently building. Man, that stuff has gotten expensive since the last bench I built.

The wood isn't more expensive, your money is just worth less. I'm building custom cabinets and paid $90/e for Baltic Birch plywood
