Fellow forum friends, one of the main reasons I decided to buy my car must be shared with all- I’m guessing you all likely haven’t seen this before:

Yes, it’s a YJ, but also yes, this is one of the funniest car channels of all time and as my TJ is the closest relation to the YJ he fixed, I feel like it should be shared far and wide.
 
So...

Why is there a track bar on a leaf spring setup? Don't understand...

A leaf spring mounted to flexy leaf spring bushings isn’t super stable under steering forces. All the YJ guys love to delete the track bars anyways, but I have found it less than enjoyable driving like that. The steering is more responsive and less vague with the front track bar in place. Once you lift it though, it’s difficult to maintain a track bar relationship that doesn’t significantly bind the suspension while flexing.

When stock, the track bar doesn’t really hinder flex at all, but in stock form the bar is nearly horizontal which is why.

The rear is useless and I don’t advocate for keeping it.
