My transmission is approaching the end of its first life so I thought I would get ahead by sourcing a used one to swap out and then have mine eventually rebuilt. Turns out that 42rle’s are damn hard to find and when they are for sale they are 2k+. There are even a few on EBay for 3500 or more. Am I missing something? Not to open the whole manual vs auto debate but—replacement price is an area when the manual jeeps really have it good.
And as a side question does anyone have a recommendation for a reliable transmission rebuilder in California?
