Hey everyone,
New to the forum but a longtime TJ fan. I’ve got a 2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ that I recently upgraded with a 2" Rock Crawler lift and 33" tires. After picking it up, I noticed a vibration during acceleration—it’s felt mostly in the steering wheel my seat and gas pedal. If I ease off the gas, the vibration goes away.

I’m still running the stock driveshaft and I haven’t added a transfer case drop or SYE/CV driveshaft (yet). No adjustable control arms either.

I’m trying to figure out the best next step:

Open to any advice. Would love to get this sorted before I go chasing bigger upgrades. Appreciate the help!

Thanks,
Jim

Drop the skid 1/2" with some thick washers (Lowe's $7 a pack of 24). If that works and you don't like the 1/2" drop, do a MML (motor mount lift).

Remove a drive shaft and go for a drive. Find out which one is causing the vibration.

I had a hint of a vibe on my lift at first, you got access to some weights / heavy items. Throw about 100-200 lbs in back (squats the back and change drivelines angle)and see if it goes away. Mine did so when I added full size spare, hitch bumper and maybe a hint of suspension settling vibes disappeared.

That can work, as well. Doing so would also point to a driveshaft vibration if the vibe reduces at a decreased u joint angle.

Why does removing the rear driveshaft require a slip yoke eliminator? If anything, doing so may point in the direction of a SYE being a solution to his vibration problem.

If you pull the slip yoke, does the t-case leak?

I think that was an issue with older Jeeps. I drove my 2003 over 100 miles with the rear shaft removed without leakage. That was before my SYE was installed.

I'm running those springs too - and when i put em on (from stock) it quickly became apparent that a SYE was next (which i did).
I felt like those springs gave me closer to 3" of lift (= driveline vibes).
My vibes were in 2nd (6spd).
It was like night and day (before and after SYE).
Smooth like butter now.
I'd just suck it up and do it :)
