I was doing some like trails this weekend. I switched between 4wd to 2wd fine. Then near the end of the day I went to put in 4wd and nothing. Seems loose and easy to move. I looked up under and the pivot pin popped out of the bracket. Is there supposed to be something on the other side to keep it from popping out? I haven't had that happen and curious if that is normal?

In stock form, the bell crank pivot axle is relatively parallel to the ground and reasonably level side to side with more than enough engagement in the pivot bearing to stay in place under normal drivetrain movement. The relationship changes for the worse to wind up with what you have going on when the drivetrain moves too much from a bad motor mount and or bad transmission mount. If there is something like a body lift or belly skid drop, that changes the angle of the bell crank pivot axle and effectively makes it shorter and more difficult to keep engaged in the pivot bearing if some correction hasn't been done like a bracket drop (not shown in your pic) or something else to put the relationship back into something proper.
