Just installed new seat foam on driver side. Reinstalled the seat and noticed it is pivoted slightly outward, away from the center console. Passenger seat also, but not quite as much.

I can’t think of anyway I could have caused this during reinstallation, so perhaps I never noticed it before. Anyone else have the same pivot angle to their seat?

I can’t say whether it feels any different than before, because the new seat foam already makes such a difference.

Is it possible you mixed up the driver's side bottom with the passenger? Or a PO swapped them years ago to get a good seat?

Also possible one track side slipped forward a click or two on the rail.

Thanks. Only changed driver side so far. No chance on the PO theory, these are definitely original.

My 99 seat has always been crooked. Never changed after taking in/out for various reasons.

I figured the engineers had to make it fit somehow...

I just looked at my 97. It’s kicked out in the same way as yours, but I noticed there are witness marks where the frame bolts to the floor showing I may have not tightened it down square.

Mine was canted the same way although when I removed the seat to install fixed risers (it was a tilt & tumble) and put it back it now seems to be more straight. It doesn't look canted however I noticed today when sitting in it my legs are slightly at an angle to the steering wheel in the direction of the door. I can't really get a bird's eye look at it with my hard top.

I have noticed before when driving on a long trip it that it felt slightly "off" and sometimes I would put my weight on the console and kind of shift myself clockwise to compensate, I'll have to pay attention to see if it still feels off on a longer trip.

I'll check that. Did not realize those bolts had any play to them. I wonder if I did the same.

I took my seat out a few times trying different combinations of lowering brackets and big boy brackets. There's a LOT of play in how the brackets bolt in, at least on my TJ. I had my seat looking like yours (crooked) before I loosened it back up and straightened it out.

Best shot I could get quickly but I think you can see both the driver and passenger are slightly rotated outboard. Mine is a ‘97. Seats and frames are stock, just recovered. Always been like this. They have been in and out many times.

Great replies, thanks all. I'm going to check the play in the four bolts that attach the lower mounts to the tub, and also the four that attach the seat to the sliders. (I didn't remove the eight that connect the sliders to the lower mounts.) That seems the most likely cause, as I was playing with the position of my sub under there.
