Questions on Modifying Wheel Center Hub

Exploring the idea of adding Yukon Free Spin Hub Kit WA-007 (small 5x4.5) on my TJ.
I like my OEM Ravine Wheels.
To keep them with the kit added I would have to bore them out.
How does boring out the center hub hole (spigot hole) on the OEM Alloy Ravine wheel affect it’s integrity?
Will it create balance issues for the wheel?

I reccome d running a rear spring relocation perch because it gains a lot more room. For the backspacing..

I’m doing this with a set of canyon wheels. I used a hole saw. I actually started a thread on it a few months ago. The bigges thing is figuring out your backspacing and stud lengths.

Have bored out the center hole to fit theJK wheels to the 07 hub kit. It's not as easy as some people say it is. A 2 3/4" hole saw is what is needed but it is slightly smaller than the back bore on the wheels. Makes for chatter and locking up when drilling. With the diameter of the inner wheel you are limited in the size of the drill that you can use and most with a brace bar won't fit. I used a Milwaukee 18v drill with the smallest battery so it would fit. The drill would constantly lock up trying to break my wrist. Someone posted a tip about using blue painter's tape to increase the diameter of the whole saw so it just fit into the wheel. I tried that wrapping the tape around the lower portion of the hole saw just above the teeth. Didn't work well, still got wrist breaking lock-ups. Moved the tape further up near the top of the saw and things went much easier with minimal lock ups. The hole saw does not cut through the aluminum like butter. It cuts better than through steel but still takes a bit of time to do each wheel.

For 17" wheels, you'll need an adapter. The adapters come in two varieties, hub centric and bolt centric. Hub centric have a wheel locating lip that is smaller diameter than the back bore of the wheels. If you have hub centric adapters , you probably will have to bore them out to 2 3/4". Don't know if that's the reason why bolt centric spacers are recommended.
 
I agree I used a milwaukee corded drill and lots of cutting oil while drilling and it went surprisingly smooth. I would have used a drill press but the one in the shop was just about a 1/2 inch too shallow for the diameter of the wheel.
