I bought an air cleaner assembly for my 97 TJ 2.5l to replace the homemade cold air intake that the previous owner put in. Unfortunately it came with no hardware. Using the parts manual has only led me to discontinued parts with no info on the sizes. Anyone know where to find this info or where to buy replacement hardware?

You have the air box.. what hardware are you looking for.. exactly.

Couple hose clamps and some bolts to anchor it..
Hardware store?
Tractor supply?
Home Depot?

Ha! I’m a wood guy so hardware may not be the correct term. Basically just need the bolts to mount it. I have some hose clamps.

I don't the 2.5 but what it's like.. three bolts through the bottom of the air box?

Go to Home Depot or Ace Hardware if you have them. Get four M5 - 0.8 x 12mm with nuts and a few washers.

Pretty sure that's the size you need.

Google is your friend.

Use the holes in a thread gauge to find the bolt diameter, it can be slightly smaller and it wouldn't really matter in this case. then buy whichever ones are close and see what fits. I'm gonna guess they are around the ball park of 5/16th-18. You already know the length you need and thread size doesn't really matter in this application since its bolts and nuts going into the hole freely.

Home Depot/Lowes is okay in a pinch but I go to a dedicated fasteners store that sells nothing but bolts/nuts/etc. You can find the good stuff there easily like zinc coated 10.9 bolts.

Find a junkyard and go pull them. That way you know you get all of them as well as the location of all the items.

Junk yards are a wonderful classroom.

This is from extreme Terrains write-up on replacing the stock air intake with an aftermarket "CAI". Says they are 8mm bolts/nuts. I am also in the process of installing the stock air box and getting rid of the cold air intake the previous owner put on. I don't know the length of the bolts, but you could easily check that with another bolt you have laying around(we are all supposed to have at least a 5 gallon bucket full of random nuts/bolts/washers lol). I would also get some rubber gromets or washers to kinda seal the bolts off.
