Sorry, I haven't researched that. I guess you could make your own if you had shim stock. I hope it goes well and you can find some.
New starter squealing

I got nothing that ain't already been said. I do like mac's idea of just replacing the solenoid, allowing you to use the old starter. That should eliminate the noise i would think. But I'm also confused, it sounded like shimming reduced the noise, why are you not going further down that track?
I’m not sure why I decided not to go down that track. I had luck creating distance and dampening the sound but I really don’t want to fool around with it, I was just wanting to get the part, put it in and not have to fool around with nonsense. As you know, nothing is ever plug and play and there’s always crap you have to mess with to get it working.
Ireally just got tired of fooling around with it. I’ve dropped my starter about 20 times and I picked up these Shims from advanced auto for GM so a little cutting and drilling is in my future but I’m thinking I’ll try shimming and dropping my starter another 10 times for the sake of all of our sanity
