On Friday, I picked up a M18 FUEL 8 in. HATCHET Pruning Saw that came with a FORGE XC 8.0 Ah Battery Pack. After using it for roughly an hour yesterday, cutting down five (5) storm damaged 6-inch cedars, I'm extremely impressed. Normally, I'd break out my 20" Echo saw, carry the fuel and chain bar oil, do the job, then carry everything back.

Using this saw, I filled it with oil, carried just the saw, cut down the trees, pruned the branches, cut the trees into logs for the fire pit, then carried only the saw back. It used about 2/3 of the oil and the amazing part to me was all this was done using a Red Lithium XC5.0 battery. While the battery was spent at the end of the job, it did what it needed to do. I'm sure the FORGE battery will really be up to hard work tasks. Although I'm not yet ready to replace my 60cc Echo for bigger jobs, this small electric will replace it for all the pruning tasks it's used for today!

I bought one a while back. We had a wind storm, lost two large branches off our 50ft ash tree. The ends were 8" saw did great. I had to saw half way thru and same on other side. One branch was 30+ ft long. Good first workout for the saw..

I have the M12 version (actually, it’s my wife’s) and the darn thing is handy as hell. Been thinking of picking up the bigger chain saw for my M18 batteries. I’ve used the Stihl electric chainsaw and it’s also very nice. I just prefer having one battery set.
