Hello all I was wondering how to remove inspection plate on 97 tj 4.0 with ax15 transmission, I think there may be oil or something on the clutch so was wondering how to remove the inspection plate.

Looks like you have to pull the tranny

As stated, unfortunately the transmission has to come out to look behind the plate. It’s not an inspection plate in this application, it’s referred to as a “spacer.”

You might be able to sneak an endoscope through the slave portion of the bellhousing...or pull the starter.

An endoscope on Amazon is pretty cheap.

Transmission pulls fast. Get the e Torx on top first.

I'll have to give that a try before pulling the whole tranny just to look at something

Well that makes more sense because usually vehicles have an inspection plate but when I crawled under my jeep it was questionable what it was.
