I Replaced the sound bar speakers without much problem last week, pretty easy task, just had to remove and fix where the PO tapped into them for a speaker box. That was easy.
The front was a bit more challenging. I removed the old factory speakers and admired the one piece speaker body/ mounting plate design. Of course the speakers I bought to replace them (Sony 4x6) didn't fit the mounting holes. So I decided to grab a piece of .025 alum sheet I had left over from a boat repair and make some mounts I could use. When I finished the first, I decided it was too flimsy and went back to the drinking/thinking table. Then I had a great idea, why not reuse the factory speaker frame.
I cut out the speaker body along the pressed corner with my dremmel, laid down a strip of 3M trim tape (stuff hold everything!) along the cut out and stuck the plastic mount that came with the speakers to it. It held tight so I mounted the speakers to them and installed. Worked like a charm. Just another way to do a job that I have seen several questions about.
Posted a few pics so you can see what I did.
