I just finished installing a new front bumper on my '99 Sahara — this one from EAG, to be exact:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07BDL3BFB/?tag=wranglerorg-20

It has integrated LED fog lights. Since my TJ had the stock fog lights disconnected by a previous owner, I simply connected these new integrated lights into the blue and black wires in the front fenders.

The good news is that when I press the stock fog light switch, the fog lights turn on when the headlights are on.

The bad news is that when I press the stock fog light switch, the windshield wipers also turn on.

It doesn't matter which position the actual windshield wiper switch on the steering column is in. The fog light switch always turns on the wipers.

Has anyone experienced this issue before? Any clues as to what it would be?

I saw elsewhere on the internet that it could be:
  • due to a grounding issue elsewhere, but I'm not sure how that would cause this issue
  • due to the LED lights having a different voltage or current draw than the stock fog lights, causing an issue with the switch or the relay
  • due to aliens
I can't find any advice on this exact issue, though.

Must have bare wires rubbing together in the steering column area, maybe?? Specifically where they flex as the column is tilted.
